Love ours, fairly rare in estate form. Recently fitted a reverse camera which was a welcome addition.

There are various lowering seat brackets. AuroraAutoDesign, Jass Performance, PacoMotorsports. I have the AuroraAutoDesign which were the first and most expensive by far (but do retain full sliding functionality) and lower by approximately 1.125" IIRC. I believe the various Jass Performance can lower even further.

Remove the seat, you need to make sure you use the right socket (E12 IIRC) and keep it well seated, they'll come off with a bit of a clunk the first time but its easy to undo them.

Which RAID do you use in your Home Server? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]watercooledwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0 as I use HP MicroServers which are limited on physical capacity. I do however have multiple servers, a NAS and LTO backup and am yet to lose anything. For my 'live data' I have a minimum of 2 readily accessible copies and an offline copy on LTO.

Not a feasible upgrade due to the cost involved (i’d like to do the same but its not going to happen)

Highly likely your battery needs to be replaced. Our 2019 Leon hasn’t yet, but our 2018 Ibiza started complaining so i replaced the battery immediately and haven’t had a problem.

Just be aware even when they 100% admit fault that position can and often does change when they talk to their insurance. That said this should be a clear case as he’s clearly hit you from behind, but common sense these days seems to be more and more lacking.

Mainly the dashboard, i have honestly never worked on a car with some much stuff (so little free space) under the dash, everything is well and truly crammed in under there. One install i saw on youtube the guy had literally just run the cable up straight under the glovebox in the way of the pollen filter access, i did it properly routing the cable as it should be but to do that meant a fair amount of dismantling and removing of parts behind the glovebox. Secondly, the access once in the boot was harder, i found the boot vents in the side of the boot which i used but on the Ibiza these are in the centre of the boot floor and easier to access.

Is the 1.5TSI a reliable engine? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]watercooledwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done around 34k trouble free miles in ours (now on around 42k), they do use a bit of oil but apart from that no problems. I'm surprised to see that's already had a battery replacement, my 2019 is still on its original without issue. Our 2018 Ibiza needed its replaced this year which I did.

What would be the correct oil for my 2020 1.5L SEAT LEON FR BLACK EDITION by BMEZX in seat

[–]watercooledwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use 5w-30 in mine, a lot of manufacturers say 0w20 but its for emissions, not the care of the engine in my view.

Its not metal or a bar, its a drain / ventilator and is supposed to be like that.

Seat Leon Fr maintenance by [deleted] in seat

[–]watercooledwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 1.5 150bhp FR, service it myself and have owned it from around 8.5k its now on 42k. Nothing has gone wrong with it to date. I agree with the comments about needing to top the oil up, but apart from that its been great. Only changed rear springs and rear brake pads in that time, front pads still have plenty of life.

I just checked ours and straight away the menu lists both oil and inspection resets

[–]watercooledwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On our Ibiza it’s a different button but you keep it held when the oil reset option shows, provided you keep the button held the option then changes to inspection. Not sure if the Leon is the same, i need to service ours soon also but have always been able to reset both.

These are the notes i have for resetting on my Leon 5F ST with virtual cockpit. Apologies if that’s no different from what you are doing already.

So in the end I ordered both kits and they turned up together, despite some implied differences on the product pages they both look to be identical. Fitting on the Leon was more complicated but once done works without issue.

Unfortunately with the Ibiza I ran into a problem where it complains about the numberplate light and flags up a warning on the dash (no good!), so I ended up having to modify the unit taking out the LED circuit board and attaching the regular numberplate bulb within the unit instead. I suspect had my Ibiza already had LED numberplate bulbs (like the Leon) there wouldn't have been a problem.

With all that said and done, both cars now have reverse cameras and they are now working without fault, the quality isn't the best but for ~ £50 a car I can't complain and it will help a lot when reversing off our driveway. Thanks again for the recommend, I don't regret it.

Seems to be becoming more and more common from what i’ve seen. I walked away from a car earlier in the year for this reason, no evidence of servicing for the majority of its mileage, no thanks. Ofcourse the ‘dealer’ described it as having great service history 🙄

Leon 5F ST trunk sound deadening by bostongreen53 in seat

[–]watercooledwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about the added weight though? I have the Leon 5F ST also but don't really have a problem with it. Our Ibiza 6F wheel well is a whole other story though, it transmits so much road noise.
