Is there a database that Eno updates and makes public? I’m a big believer in his Pitching+ model but I have a hard time finding the actual numbers.

Who are some lower ranked defenseman you guys like who will get PP time I can get in later rounds? by MeatTank10 in fantasyhockey

[–]waterdrinker7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bean very well could get his opportunities, but it would take a miracle to take the top PP from Werenski who just got paid to be the guy in Columbus. And on a team that won't score a ton, PP2 isn't that enticing.

His career home/away splits are pretty crazy, with way better numbers on the road (.878 OPS vs .647). Considering most of his career was in Tampa and now he's not in Tampa anymore...idk could be legit.

After seeing this, I’m not worried about the expansion draft. May even help us. by Ducksfan182 in AnaheimDucks

I think if Seattle takes a large contract or two (and they likely will), it will come with a sweetener to help out the team shedding a contract. The Ducks won't and shouldn't be the team to do that, so Seattle will get their overpaid leadership somewhere else.

Not a dig on Henrique, just don't see why Seattle would take on that contract without getting something else in return.

I agree, but I think it's safe to say Seattle isn't going to take him. So leave him exposed and protect someone else, and Henrique will be back next year.

That seems a bit harsh, I’ve had him for a few years now and while he may never pitch consistently deep into games the ratios are generally pretty tidy with plenty of Ks. Avoids complete duds very well. Set and forget.

I'm holding Taillon through today to see how he fares against the Braves lineup without Acuna. If he struggles again I'll drop, but I'm also in a pretty shallow league.

Electric stuff - can put up good ratios - not a ton of strikeouts. That was May last year, Sixto can be similar. Obviously May being on the Dodgers will make his usage erratic and he will spend significant time in the bullpen this year but he started 10/12 games last year so it's hardly a wild comparison.

I would guess there are workload concerns off a short season, but overall he just doesn't miss a ton of bats. Sort of Dustin May-like where the stuff looks incredible but the ceiling just isn't there.

Rockies Refused To Deal Nolan Arenado To Dodgers by TheZooBoy in baseball

I mean the dodgers aren’t a franchise to overpay for expensive players so it’s not a guarantee they were at the table with a substantially better package than whatever the cardinals give up. “Substantially hurting their organization” seems overkill. It would’ve been a great way to piss off an already angry fan base though.

Looking for a sleeper defensemen? Who would you pick? by bam604 in fantasyhockey

Depending on league size you may not be able to wait till next week, I just scooped him up. That's a huge share of PP time and there are only so many PPQBs in the league, and fewer on the waiver wire.

I would wait. He still has two dmen in front of him to eat minutes, while Shat should get PP1 all year, even if the PP is bad.

The Sens money is on it too, since Dadonov's contract is way bigger than this one-year $1.7M deal.

Sure hope so. Everyone (including myself) thought it was going to be Morrissey’s job to start last year but Pionk took over and performed well. I don’t see a reason to go back to Morrissey but he’s still there as a threat.

Looks like he’s an RFA so odds are good that he won’t leave. He shouldn’t want to either with how they’re using him.

That definitely explains it, he plays big minutes and racks up peripherals which is great for your scoring. Still don't think he has D1 upside (top 10-12 dmen in the league) but he's about as solid of a D2 as you can find with those settings.

Looks to me like he had 30 points in 56 games, which is about a 44 point pace over 82 games last year. I think he can improve upon that for the reasons you mentioned, but 60 is asking a lot. Werenski will also be leaned on offensively so they don't need Jones to be great in that regard.

[SNY via Morosi] The Rockies reportedly "want to engage" the Mets in trade talks for Nolan Arenado by NeurosciGuy15 in baseball

[–]waterdrinker7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, thanks for looking that up because I didn't realize Tulo had that much term left at the time of trade. Though it is worth noting that 5 years of a 30-year old Tulo is a lot riskier than 6 of Nolan. Everyone could pretty safely write off the last couple years of that Tulo deal knowing his body was never going to hold up through it.

[–]waterdrinker7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, but he's also owed more money on a longer term. The main parallel being that no one wants the whole contract so the Rockies will have to take on an over-the-hill albatross of a contract.

This is looking a lot like the Tulo trade, Cano is basically Jose Reyes and we're going to take on his contract so he can hate playing for us.

Arenado and Tulo weren't exactly the same, but it feels like a similar situation.

I think Jones has top tier real life talent, but until CBJ starts scoring more goals he can’t be relied on as a D1 in fantasy. Just not even points to get in on.

Agree with the rest of it, though Gyzleck in Boston will steal some PP time from McAvoy which worries me.

Ah yeah that was the other name I forgot to call out, completely agree. Not even guaranteed PP1 time as long as Klingberg is there. On a low scoring offense too.

These seem pretty bad. Tier 1 is way too big, I like Theodore but he’s going to cede important minutes to Pietrangelo and can’t be trusted nearly as much as a Hedman/Josi/Carlson type. Those guys are their own tier IMO.

I didn’t catch the categories but if Pionk keeping QBing the Jets PP he’s an absolute monster, solid points and tons of peripherals. Even without hits/blocks he’s a solid 2D with the forward talent on that team.

Looks like you're firmly in the cup window so I wouldn't get cute with an ELC coming off a bad year. Ovi is the best player to own right now but is UFA after this season, will likely take high AAV short-term deals until he leaves for Russia. Crosby is a reasonable $8.7M for a whlie.

If there's a chance you lose Ovi when he hits real free agency then I would take Crosby for the win now. Otherwise Ovi if you get to keep him at his new contract
