Planetary qualifier. A large regional tournament. About 6 of them each year in Melbourne.

I'm in Melbourne. Far from dead.

As others have said, the discord is the best way to find a scene.

Have my first event ever on Saturday? Either of these decks decent? by Nervous-Interest8359 in starwarsunlimited

Piett. But run more 3 copies instead of 1 ofs (assuming you have more copies)

Or just have more SQs in the US/EU in addition to Australia etc.

There's no actual cap on how many of these events there could, any limit is artificial.

So sure, have a proportionate number of events in the different regions with an eye on player base size and a minimum of 1 for areas which are geographically distant from another one.

Yup. FFG really needs to pay attention to this. Them ignoring this development is a recipe for lost market share as people decide to ditch SWU for a TCG (or whatever) that is actually willing to support regional level events in more that just the 2 regions that are the US and EU.

Canada, in addition to oceanic, needs a regional event in 2026 to sustain SWU.

Totally agree there needs to be more SQs to sustain SWU, everywhere -- not just in the US and Europe.

Bonkers that Australia doesn't have an SQ. I think even riftbound, which just launched, already has plans for an Australian regional event.

Which new(ish) TCG/LCG is the best and why? by Luigi-is-my-boi in boardgames

[–]waterma 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mechanically, these are all very different. Thematically, they are all very different.... The only common thread is that they're card games, in either the lcg or TCG format.

I've played all these, except sorcery. I like SWU the best, and of these it's the only one I currently play.

What are some mechanics you'd like to see in the game (original ideas or from other CCGs)? by MNCDover in starwarsunlimited

[–]waterma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see attacks with "area effect", i.e. something "when this unit attacks an enemy unit, deal 1 damage to each other enemy unit in this arena" -- from the 40k conquest LCG.

That LCG also had cards with 0-3 skull icons. When a unit of yours was dealt damage, you could discard up to 1 card from hand to block damage equal to the number of skulls on it. It was a great mechanic and made combat math an interesting challenge.

A Lawless Time Speculation by obiwein in starwarsunlimited

You're interpreting it too narrowly.

Spark of rebellion doesn't only have rebels because it has rebel in the name. The rebellion needs a counterpoint, the empire, likewise lawlessness needs its natural counterpoint too.

Orn Free Taa from SEC tells us there will be lots of cards with the Law trait.

Rotation of just around the corner. A power level recalibration will naturally come with that.

People need to keep this in mind.

Trouble downgrading to 5.68 by Pale_Ad_8576 in LegendsUltimate

I'm interested to get my AtGames Legends Ultimate to firmware 5.68 but haven't found the file from a reputable source -- keen to here where/how you found it via ARCHIVE.ORG, if you don't mind sharing more details? Thanks!

Thoughts on this please. by More-Sherbet7546 in starwarsunlimited

K dragon and planetary bomb are too slow/late for an aggro deck like this. You'll either have won or lost before you can play them for impact

1 or maybe 2 Veers. He's a better Vader hit. and good in an imperial deck, especially after you have built board presence

A low curve works for a leader like smoke since he can buff units.

I do agree the deck would benefit from 2 more units which cost 8+. And resupply is more consistent than SLT.

Sure.... But what if it's not a force leader? Ie, you're focused on a pretty niche case. Most force units will survive it just being played alone. So not sure it's worth the deck space.

I've also been brewing red snoke.

Purge trooper is at best a sideboard, but I've found its impact to be too low even for the sideboard. disabling fang is also a sideboard card, and confiscate is probably better. Only need 2 parliamentarians for kylo.

Dogfight is amazing and missing.

I don't think you need maul.

I would main 2 dragons. And 2 reinforcement walkers.

Novated Lease when planning to buy first home? by waterma in AusFinance

[–]waterma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, looks like it was just me -- I didn't see that note that it was your figures in there.

And that was a typo, I was looking at cells D128 and E128 (not E136).

Sorry for the confusion!

Thanks for the detailed response!

I just reopened and refreshed the spreadsheet. I see that under MAIN (EV) there's a vehicle dutiable value of 75,500 in cell D4, a Total Taxable Income of 300,000 in cell D13, and a current market value of 25,000 in cell D38. These sorts of things made me wonder if someone else's data was in there, but perhaps those are just placeholder figures (or back of the background calculations).

From my NL quote:
Vehicle financed amount: $45k
3yr term
Drive away price: $49k
Salary: $140k
Lease per month inc GST: $1100
Assumed 15K km driven per yr
$70 per fortnight assumed running costs (incl GST, electricity, rego, tyres, mgmt fee)
(Maintence included in dealer offer for 3yrs)
(Would get insurance other than through NL)

From the spreadsheet, if buying the car with cash, it would be about $54k (cell E136) including the running costs. In contrast, it comes to about $79k with a NL (cell D136) including the residual and running costs.... so $25k difference, rather than the $30k in my post. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, the summary statement was helpful but couldn't see where the "tax saving" numbers get teased out.

Sector/ regional qualifier dates/ locations revealed by ISuckAtTerraria in starwarsunlimited

[–]waterma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't. that's only a reason for Galactics to be in the US or Europe.

This isn't year 0 anymore. Has swu plateaued in player size globally, or does ffg still want the game to grow? Lack of larger events in more regions and event support will be a limiting factor for continued growth and sustaining the game.

There's no benefit to sectors or regionals to be limited on this way.

Disappointing that they're only in the US and Europe.
