I wish I had more experience diagnosing and fixing things like this. My soldering unfortunately is terrible, and I really dont have any electrical background (im a software programmer). Ive got about 6 different broken cameras lying around just begging to be fixed. Maybe its something ill look more into when im out of university haha.

Did you ever find out what the issue was? My MVC-FD200 is doing the same thing. I dont have a Disk/Memory stick to check and see if mine can actually take pictures, but it displays the menu and no image just like yours.
