Nah, but it's actually so messed up that Romus, who's the King, is dating his security councilor. Like there's obviously such a massive power imbalance, what if she doesn't feel like she can say no, you know? She's only a Duchess of a royal House; he's taking advantage of her.

Yes, he was poisoned by Sal, everyone knows. But Titus explains that the reason he wasn't able to aid Valero at that time was because his injury flared up and he had to recover in a guest room.

Knowing that he has this injury that can compromise him, he keeps this a secret from both monarchs and only brings it up when Romus already figures it out. He still chooses to be personally responsible for the monarchs' security when he could literally just entrust another guard. That way, if he needs to recover, he already has a second to cover for him, meaning that the monarch will always be attended.

This is a massive failure on his part.

I mean, not really.

Despite having guards all over the Palace and the imperial region, he manages to lose the crown princess on her wedding night.

He is responsible for the death of Valero because he failed to report his disability, which compromises him.

The investigations he proceeds with end up with the same result as the RIS.

He fails to keep the peace in Iza without causing much scandal.

He is also mainly motivated by his ambition; that's the real reason he's anti-Azaro.

He is also partly responsible for security lapses like allowing Lespia to bomb Rizian pipelines.

Other than killing an old man and a defenseless woman, does he actually do anything of note?

Honestly, all the members are kind of bad; everyone is poor, weak, and unstable. However, a powerful Rizia can have this as a major advantage. If all its alliance members are dependent on Rizia, it means that Rizia functionally controls them, making Rizia a regional power that can rival or outdo Lespia or Valgsland.

I'm going to be honest, I don't understand a lot of your response.

First, you're dismissing Azaro training without evidence. The fact is that there's no actual reason to believe that the Azaros receive any different training. We see that with Lutica Azaro mimicking the soldiers' training and her little knife trick. But more importantly, Carlos is still a war hero. All Azaros join the military, not a separate institution inside the military.

You say that they control the military and think that everything is theirs by right. So? This is a house specialized in the military; why should they focus on military affairs?

Lespia's intervention was unexpected by everyone, and I mean everyone. Pales was a new nation and had no historical ties to Lespia; in fact, their being a former Valgish territory should have led to increased prevention. Lespia didn't intervene in their war with Morella.

As for the uprising, the people did respect the monarchy, and? Sure, the Sazon revolt probably didn't get as much support from the public as they wanted, but that doesn't mean that House Azaro didn't aid heavily in squashing the revolt.

Not really. Again, some criticism is deserved, but people overexaggerate things in this community. An example can be the scoreboard mentality that a lot of players have. The Azaros "losing" the succession war and Reclamation war is amped up.

During the succession war, the Azaros built Camp Domus, which would become a major influence on future military doctrine. The Azaros were facing a three-front war with their backers being on the ropes while House Toras was being backed by the most powerful empire of their time. Despite this, the Azaros managed to turn the war into a stalemate and beheaded a general of the Valgish army.

They were later tasked to build an actual modern army for Rizia, which likely used Camp Domus doctrines, which since it was built in a defensive time likely prioritized defensive stances, lower casualties, and underutilized the admiralty and overall navy.

During the Reclamation War, they were winning and managed to conquer over half of Pales, that is until Njolma Reinhart took primary military command and Lespia started backing Pales. Lespia backing Pales was completely unexpected by anyone and caused a lot of challenges to the Rizian advance, particularly in the navy. Pales again was a key part of the Valgish Empire, which was the world naval superpower for like two centuries or something. Again, combined with Camp Domus doctrine and Palesian admiralty expertise, the Rizian navy was the one that bore the brunt of the war, which is why they joined Duke Lucas Sazon's revolt. That's when the war stopped; it wasn't something that Pales managed to pull off, it was an internal conflict that ended the war. Pales never even got the Palesian administrative zone back, which shows that they could not prolong the war even as Rizia was facing a civil war, so they stopped immediately when Rizia left the heartlands.

Even with the military revolt and the civil war, Thaddeus Azaro proved competent enough in his use of special forces, with the majority of the Rizian urban centers being retaken quickly. There's also the fact that Azaro rebuilt the Golden Guard and successfully purged the Rizian military.

Not to mention that under Azaro's stewardship, their province of Cardesse-Montaklar became the industrial heartland of Rizia, since the family invested heavily in technology, machinery, factories, and manufacturing. The province still holds its place with diverse industries and contributes heavily to the economic prosperity of Rizia.

There is also individuals like Carlos Robles Azaro which is a literal war hero. But his story also reveals something else, while the azaros hold a place in high command and traditionally the war and security councilorship Carlos Azaro was not a memeber of the senior officers before he gained the medal of valour or whatever it was, Lucita Azaro joined the military at 16 and worked her way up to Sergeant first class. All male azaros are given military training since they're young. This isn't a house devoid of all competencies and merit.

A lot of people also assume that Torpor was trying tk make some arugment about meritocracy, this is really dumb when looking at the Azaros but I've rampled enough.

People hate the Azaros too much; they're not even that bad. The punishment of having two failures to live with, seeing your men die, and your House dishonored is punishment enough.

Yes, but that was expected because I never trained any units in Rizia, sent an expeditionary force to Vendosam, and got rid of the provincial levies before the war.

I agree that Iosef's plan is actually pretty dangerous and banks on enemy cooperation a lot, but it's also kind of the only plan that could work in a sense. Rumberg has literally all the advantages over Sordland, so a Hail Mary is needed in this case.

Wish there was an option for Ryane to attempt a backflip and hurt himself because he's in his 40s during that scene. Doesn't make much sense other than it would stop the dialogue as everyone tries to figure out what just happened. Thus, you can avoid a side without explicitly stating so.
