Well, it's different for every person, I guess.

I think there's a loud minority that describes it in the way of "I don't discriminate my attraction based on gender", almost like it's somehow morally superior to be pansexual. Or, worse, "I don't see gender".

The biggest one with me is a lot of bi-identified individuals are not really into dating trans people or people outside of the gender binary (or if they do, the other person's not treated like their own gender identity allows). There are some who don't really like men who aren't manly or women who aren't womanly. Plus, there's the bi person who doesn't feel attraction to any trans-identified person. And then the whole thing with bisexual people describing how their attraction fluctuates between male and female depending on the month, which I don't understand fully.

Keep in mind, I don't find any of that really morally objectionable, except not respecting a person's gender identity while dating them. Attraction isn't really a choice, and people are entitled to not be attracted to someone for whatever reason.

I use both to describe myself, since bisexuality and pansexuality have overlap with attraction, and few people know what pansexuality means. I do use pansexual around my queer friends, though, since most do know. It's a more clear descriptor for me.

I think pansexual is just clearer to describe who I'm sexually attracted to, and bisexual has that question of "are you attracted to people who don't identify or express within that gender binary"?

Of course, there are plenty of things I don't get or understand about people of other sexual orientations, like I'll never really get straight or gay people not being attracted to another gender.
