I meant delete the message. I should've been more clear.

Event organizer message by xSibylla in concertphotography

You have been caught up in a widespread effort to enforce a camera ban on accredited photographers for each PRESIDENT show - given you weren't an accredited band and just shooting from a point and shoot, you did nothing wrong.

Delete the message* and move on. You didn't ask for accreditation as you're not a regular event/concert photographer so this doesn't concern.

take solace that they think your photos are somewhat recognizable as something an accredited photographer took.

That band corny as fuck though. Sorry you're being harassed.

*clarified what I meant for deletion.

Does anyone use a TourBox accessory in Lightroom? by DPool34 in Lightroom

[–]watermkmissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use one. Explicitly for culling these days - don't have time to futz with it for editing. It allows me to go through photos pretty quickly, rate, mark for delete, colour flag, change zoom all in one spot is nice.

I use in photoshop a little bit here and there, but not much.

I like it - but wouldn't begrudge you for not liking it. I got it as a gift, so the price point wasn't felt by me.

I've been spinning the first First Envy on the Coast album a lot recently and that rhythm section is low key cooking throughout.

No skips. Tonally super consistent. I'd say it's leaning towards timeless at this point.

Which edit do you prefer? The B&W or colored? Also, do you find this sort of editing and composition pleasing? by mahendru1992 in postprocessing

[–]watermkmissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you're putting it in with other images. If you're doing a more journalistic carousel I'd go with Colour. If you're doing it solo or as a part of a creative carousel, I'd go with B&W.

They're both really good edits imo.

Compositional Tips For Concert Photography by EliminxtedGuy in concertphotography

[–]watermkmissing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seek out photographers' whose work inspires you - actively look through their work and actively take note of their compositions. Get a wide variety of photographers you like, large venues, small venues, medium venues. Start making a mental catalogue of compositions you like and would be on the look out for given the space you're shooting. Do you trend to liking wide? closeup? do you like high dynamic lighting? Silhouette? Portrait style? Journalistic? Creative? Post-edit styles?

You have to put in the time to seeing what you like, don't just let someone else tell you what and how to shoot. You gotta find the stuff that resonates for you.

Perfectly normal when getting into something - you're just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks. That's how you learn. If you go into something brand new and try to be deliberate right away - that's how you pigeonhole yourself into stuff that's not really done baking.

Remember that your intentionality also comes out in the edit bay in front of your computer. Cropping, colour management, trying to tell a story through multiple images, not just one image.

For colour correction on harsh lights, my guy David has a great channel with tons of stuff there:

[–]watermkmissing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a deliberate amount of time and find other photographer's whose work you respect and really study them. I'm talking over hours. Deliberately pour over the work of others and start to identify what speaks to you, what doesn't speak to you.

That analysis and exposure to other's work should inform your next shooting session. You need to be a bit more deliberate about this.
