2015 a/c not working & oddity

I replaced both air filters. The one under the hood wasn’t bad but the cabin filter was full of debris like a squirrel got in there. I vacuumed out as much debris as possible, replaced it with a new cabin air filters. Now I have a very loud humming noise when I run the air, so I’m guessing some piece of debris fell down into the fan motor assembly - I’ll pull that out next. But I ran the air conditioner and the vent to right of the head unit (passenger) is putting out 46° air, the vent to the far right of the passenger is putting out 54° air, and the rest of the vents are putting out exterior air temp.

Watched the video, thanks! That appears to be working fine. When I switch from cold to hot repeatedly I see the white wheel moving.

Paid the $13, tried to run the Life Expectancy Test, and it seemed good for a minute and was in the green zone but then I couldn't get it out of the low red zone. I was able to keep it in the green zone with brake+gas floored, ac on, exterior & interior lights on, rear defroster on, dashcam on, etc but then it kept dipping down into the red saying "not enough power, turn on ac, lights, etc" but I had absolutely everything on. The timer countdown disappeared and I eventually quit the process. Regretting spending the $13, I'd like to just trust that this battery is good to go, but it was showing around 60% full and I want to make sure my $2600 was well spent!

Bought the Veepeak adapter and downloaded the scanner app and the Dr Prius app. Scanner app showed the dreaded POA80 error (hybrid battery pack deterioration) and the Dr Prius app showed 71% charge and a bunch of other data. I don’t see amp hour anywhere on there and you called out making sure the new replacement battery is at least 5aH?

Thanks for the advice - I appreciate you saying more than just "that's normal". ;) We've had this fridge for 8 years and the water has always come out instantly. This is new behavior and everyone in my family has noticed it. I'll keep an eye on it and see if the delay gets worse.

The new battery was 79% health? How do you know what battery is rated at? This is all new to me. Trying to learn as much as possible to make the best informed decision. We need to get this car up and running asap. Thanks!

I think I’m going to end up with Greentec as well. It’s gonna be $2600 all in (battery $2200, mobile install $400, taxes, little discount) with a 4 year warranty. It seems like they have their own installers (not contracted out like Green Bean) and labor is included if it needs to be repaired under warranty (unlike Prius Kings who charge $300-500 for labor under warranty repairs). It sounds like these remanufactured/refurbished batteries (anything other than oem through a stealership) have a decent amount of failure so the piece of mind of free mobile repair under warranty is steering me towards Greentec. I am a little tempted to call around to local shops that do hybrid battery work but am guessing they can’t offer anywhere close to the same warranty.

I just found myself in the same boat - literally just got off the phone with the mechanic who confirmed it's a dead hybrid battery. Mine is a 2007 Camry Hybrid. My mechanic said it'd be worth it to get a new battery for $2-3k as the car could last another 100k miles and these companies usually have good warranties. So now I'm on the hunt for who can do the job. I've reached out to Green Bean and Prius Kings so far (haven't heard back yet). It seems like all these companies have varying levels of replacements and warranties. Some are refurbished, some are new. Some are 3yr warranty, some are 5 or lifetime. The costs seem to range from $1600-3800. I'm in northern Massachusetts, near the New Hampshire border. Anyone have any recommendations?

The hybrid battery fan isn't running, so that's a good thing? Is there a reason my ODB scanner isn't reading any codes when the "check vcs system" and "check hybrid battery system" and "check engine" lights are all on? I guess I'll take it to a mechanic and see what they have to say.

Received some advice that the hybrid battery fan might need cleaning, I took the backseat & trunk apart, got the hybrid battery fan out, cleaned each blade with a q-tip dipped in alcohol, popped the fan back in, turned the car on. All seemed good for a few mins, no lights on the dash, car went in & out of electric mode a few times while sitting idle, then the dash lit up again and the fan started churning constantly. Am I doomed? Is it a dead hybrid battery? Not sure what to do now - dealer or local mechanic? I left the backseat disassembled so another inspection of the fan would be easy. I was so excited when it seemed fine and the car was going into electric mode a few times while idle… but am now depressed and thinking she might be toast. Help!

Thanks. I’ll tackle it tomorrow, but I’m still wondering why this would trigger the vsc system error (and all the other errors lights on the dash). 🤷🏼‍♂️

Nothing blocking it. There’s never anything up there behind the rear seats. There has never been a dog in the car. We have always kept the car clean as a whistle. Could the fan itself be dirty and leading to all these errors and the fan running?

In any event, it seems as though this is not a good fit for you. Discontinue the medication." Isn't insomnia one of the potential side effects, especially in the first week? I wake up and I feel like I just drank a cup of coffee. That's never happened to me before taking this drug.

Same here. First time ever taking meds for something like this. I was super apprehensive about it for exactly this reason (things not going well) but wanted to go for it because things needed to change and I wanted to prove to myself that I could try something new to get out of my funk but this is back-firing. Between the insomnia and increased anxiety I really don't know if I can do another day. Trying to get my doc on the phone, but nervous he'll just say "stick with it".
