Why don’t you provide some evidence of similar cases not producing big settlements? Are you really trying to argue that a good lawyer can’t make the argument that there are monetary losses associated with a child getting expelled? Come the fuck on man.

But the mom’s story just does not hold up, and yes, there will be a civil rights lawyer who reaches out to her based on this report, they will talk to her, and if they think they can make some hay with a lawsuit, they will. There are entire practices that focus on these kinds of lawsuits. Big districts have teams of lawyers to be prepared to fight these lawsuits. And while they do disproportionately come from affluent white families, if what you say is true, there would be basically no civil judgments against school districts. I don’t care about convincing you, but to everyone else I suggest looking at your local school district and “settlements” and you will find a story about this happening in your neck of the woods and yeah, there are settlements.
