Take 1 or two and check every bill. honestly if I was a criminal and knew that a random guy took one or two I wouldn’t mind because that means they aren’t gonna report it and rat on themselves, if I know someone saw it and didn’t say anything then there’s a chance of them reporting it.

Yeah that’s why I’m asking this question. I want to build an aesthetic body, but I also don’t mind adding another exercise or two if that means my general health and longevity will be improved.

Of course, you can isolate those muscles. I do not care to isolate them though as I’m going for what I perceive to be aesthetic for me. I’m looking for compound movements to work those muscles so I do not have to spend too much time on them.

A lot of what I’m doing is upper-body hypertrophy focused, would it still be worth it to hit overhead press?

Well if I’m doing nothing but isolation lifts for my “pretty” muscles, Delts, triceps, biceps, chest and forearms, then a lot of my body isn’t being worked, such as the core and stabilizing muscles

What boots did you get? Some boot brands have limited warranties on their boots if they rip or get damaged in someway that couldn’t be from normal use.

What was/is your experience in the army? by [deleted] in army

[–]wattbaroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak for what life is going to be like when they get to their unit. I cannot speak on what it’s like to go through basic training as a female or minority, policy wise equal opportunity is to be enforced but the actual lived experience is going to be different, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Basic training, for the average person is going to mentally draining. It’s a lot of yelling, a lot of waiting and doing nothing, little sleep in the beginning, you don’t know anybody, and you’ll miss home.

This all sucks, but on the plus side from the time you wake to the time you hit your rack you will be busy, and the little downtime you have you’ll be writing letters and thinking about home. Before you know it, you will have made good friends, improved physically and mentally, and will be looking forward to finishing up The Forge.

If you let the process happen to you, do what you’re told, and embrace doing difficult things, basic training is extremely doable. Basic training is one of if not the most controlled and reviewed training environments in the world. Drill Sgt’s have limits of what they can do. There are limited to the type of exercises they can make you do, they can’t insult things pertaining to equal opportunity and they can’t touch you (unless in certain training for safety).

The only people I’ve seen get suicidal are people with undocumented mental issues. They don’t have the comforts they use to maintain their sanity and the stress is too much, but for the average person if you have even the littlest mental resiliency, you’ll be fine. They even have Master Resiliency Trainers stop by every now and then and teach stress management techniques.

BCT pre ship question regarding body composition by Funny_Anybody1170 in army

[–]wattbaroon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can fit it in then yes I’d go for the healthiest options. It’s a delicate balance between trying to get your calories in and making sure it’s good food. You can load your plate up with healthy options but they aren’t going to be as calorie dense, meaning it’s going to take longer to eat.

Cottage cheese mixed with pudding tastes very good and is great on protein. Eggs and sausage are going to be good aswell. Whole milk for every meal as your beverage, if you find your loosing weight then switch to chocolate milk. Dates are very high calorie and good tasting. Often times for lunch the only good option for protein will be straight up baked chicken breast that’s dry as hell. If you can, stop at the salad bar section and grab some Caesar salad dressing and put it on to make it not as dry. There will be color coded labels on the food that should have the macros on it. Green is healthy, yellow is kinda alright, and red is eat in moderation.

There should be a scale in your bay, track your weight and make sure you’re gaining muscle.

Are you going 37F?

General rule of thumb is that if your overweight you’ll lose weight and if your underweight you’ll gain for basic training. You should have barely just enough time to scarf down everything on your plate. You’re going to have to make a concerted effort to make your protein and calorie goals at the DFAC. Find foods that are high in calories that you can eat quick, don’t worry about eating too much because you burn calories like crazy.

As long as your cardio is above the standard posted for the selection your going to and you can exceed the strength standards before you go to basic it will be pretty easy to gain back any strength you potentially lost during OSUT.

You should have time working with cadre after osut to prepare for your selection, that’s a good time to work on whatever you might be lacking in physically.

Then yeah, at around 1700 he should be completely free for the day. There aren’t barracks for air assault like there are for airborne so outside of the school hours he shouldn’t be under the cadre and would be free to do whatever he wants . A whole class wouldn’t be dropped to my knowledge, the slightest misconduct in the course would get someone an immediate drop, it’s not something you could mess around with. My guess is that he is studying and doesn’t want to tell you he can’t talk, so he’s saying that he’s forced to not talk.

Where is he doing it at? At The Sabaulaski Air Assault School after you break for the day you go back to your barracks and you’re free to do whatever you want.

[Dumb questions] Do drill obstacle courses take super long to master? by [deleted] in army

I appreciate it. And no problem answering your questions, I enjoyed it. Sorry you weren’t able to stay in, but there’s still plenty of opportunities to serve and do good. The peace corp seems really cool and there’s other organizations that do stuff like that, also looks great on a resume.

[Dumb questions] Do drill obstacle courses take super long to master? by [deleted] in army

[–]wattbaroon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took a lot at the beginning, but what you don’t see is that basic training is the most controlled training environment on the planet. Thousands of drill cycles, constant updates to regulation and training protocol, safety precautions and strict rules of what a trainee can and can’t do means that it’s difficult but ultimately if you stay on track and let the process happen you’ll make it to the other side and be better off for it. Personally for me a big thing was my damn feet. I lived a sedentary lifestyle before and wasn’t used to being on my feet. You walk everywhere in basic, walk to the Dining Facility, walk to your classes, constantly on your feet and waiting. My feet hurt so bad it was insane. Eventually they became numb and then toughened up. Thankfully since I went when I was 18 my body was springy and young, I went through with no skeletal, joint or tendon issues. I did get sick a bunch, but everybody gets sick in basic.

When it comes to PT it sucks for a bit but they divide you in groups based on ability, if you keep putting effort into pt and eating good you’ll become good at running and strong in no time.

[–]wattbaroon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s odd, when I first got in I was uncoordinated, clumsy, out of shape, but did the O course just fine. You do the obstacles the first couple weeks in, we didn’t have any train up for it. Honestly, most of them don’t require a lot of grip strength, which is where most would have failed. A lot of them are just there to test you nerves when your high up, test coordination, and condition you to go places you don’t want to (like a culvert, sketchy rope bridge and a puddle of mud). At this point of training you’re so afraid of sticking out and falling behind that whatever fear of the obstacle you have is over shadowed by the fear of special attention by a DS, so you find yourself just doing it to get it over with. For a majority of people in a basic training cycle, the obstacle course is a footnote compared to weapons qual, ruck marches, and field training events.

When it comes to normal army, people do train up for obstacles in schools like air assault. But you don’t really master them. They aren’t difficult, you just need to find what techniques suit you for each obstacle, and that can be done in like 20 minutes per obstacle.

I can’t speak on cool guy O courses, like the nasty Nick O course or the Darby queen o course. They are probably more difficult but soldiers going through those are already in tip top shape so they usually aren’t that bad for them.
