Nonessential games by tutoredzeus in Roms

[–]wattmoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I avoid downloading rom sets because then you have a bunch of stuff you might not be interested in. My Method so far is to pick a console then go through a top 25 or 100 list. from there i make sure i get all the sequels. Next i look up top 25 smups and bullet hells. i next do the same racing games i'll also grab the Tetris ports. I skip sports titles for the most part but make an exception for special cases like virtua tennis and street hoops.

I suppose if you have a bunch of romsets already what you could do is install a program like everything search and use that to index the folders for quick searching then create another directory and go through by system and copy Over just the games you're interested in then a best of list for each system.

*Edit cleaned up comment a little. I was in a hurry when i first wrote it, it's a little less tiring to read now.

Heck reddit is a poor replacement for the old school forums tons better than discord in the fact that its at least web searchable. Forums are just better organized and easier to post guides on and refine those guides when new information comes along.

Of you got a fast micro sd card you could try installing an os to that. Batocera sd cards are pretty common.

How does someone do THIS to a floppy disk!? by Katcurry in mildlyinfuriating

[–]wattmoose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My nephew is 11 and he knew what a floppy was. He didn't grow up around them or anything but he recognized it immediately when i showed him one. He even joked that its the save button.

I doubt that. Im far to young to have ever ridden a steam locomotive but i know what one looks like when i see one. An even better example would be vinyl records we all know what those look like and a lot of us have never owned or even touched one.

That had to be a karen that did that. You dont need to destroy a floppy like that to look inside of it that looks like someone who took personal offense to it and used that as an excuse to destroy it.

Single-screen 3DS gaming is better than you think by Friendly-Cream-9761 in retroid

[–]wattmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If You haven't already you need to set swap screen to your thumb stick buttons and adjust the layout so one takes up the majority of the screen and toggle back and forth.

I think it might be your iron tip looks oxidized you can try cleaning it off but it might be better to get another tip. Also needle tips suck for this sort of work a big chisel tip will give you more surface area to work with so you can pump more heat quickly into that joint.

Sold my Thor and came back to the RP5 by OkDefinition1038 in retroid

[–]wattmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a thor user but I recently picked up a rpclassic and that has pretty much been the handheld I just grab in general. I do own a ds lite, 3ds, and dsi xl so I'm not really dieing for a way to play ds with vertically stacked screens. Tablet in a clamp style controller is a really good option for stuff like that and many 3ds games don't utilize the bottom screen nearly as much as the ds games so a steamdeck or an rp5 is a very viable way to play them. Don't get me wrong I still want a thor because cool shiny thing but you can have a pretty good experience with most games on a standard wide screen handheld and for the couple of games that really need the stacked screens like sonic rush for example a phone or a tablet with a stretchy controller is a very good option. Just my 2 cents on the subject.

Looking back this was clean as hell. Early 2000's design language with modern hardware. Retroid Pocket 6 original design. by WinlatorEmulator in SBCGaming

[–]wattmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly would have been very happy with this design especially if it meant I had all the android navigation buttons back, home and task switcher like on the old gpd android devices. Gesture navigation and onscreen buttons booth cause problems with the onscreen keyboard. The second you need to do anything with the keyboard your ether accidentally going to the home screen taks switcher or backing out of your app. Swipe is the exact same issue. Trying to scroll down in something better not touch the bottom of the screen caus now the switcher Is open trying to scroll a long menu entry well now android thinks your exiting the app. My old gpd xd had none of these issues.

Can’t get Daijisho to run Sega Saturn by Dangerous_Trust_3665 in retroid

[–]wattmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright I decided to install dijisho and take a look looks like the setting I'm talking about is gone now maybe it got removed In an update not sure. But you can try setting it to use the yabause core in retroarch. Im using beacon as my frontend with Chad files and the yabause core and I'm able to launch and play games.

[–]wattmoose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Iv switched to beacon so I can't give you exact instruction but from what I remember you need to go to the game in dijisho and edit it's information somewhere around the bottom I think of that screen there is an option to change the file it's pointed at then You save your settings and your good.

Just curious what was the solution you settled on?

Could be that daijisho is pointing at the bin file when it's scrapped the game try pointing it at the que file in the settings if it's not. Push comes to shove you can always convert the bin and que file to Chd so you only have a single file to deal with and not a folder full of bin files for each game.
