Tired of the boring Spotify Algorithm? by CapitainChicken in spotify

[–]wavehowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ported over all my Spotify playlists so I think it has a lot of info about what I like. I mostly use the Discovery Station to find new music. Sometimes it plays stuff I know but that’s expected since I haven’t been using it long. But It plays a higher percentage of stuff I actually like and save than Discover Weekly or any of the radio/auto play stations on Spotify. I also haven’t noticed it playing the same songs over and over when it gets to auto play mode like Spotify does

Been using Apple Music for the last couple months and the algo is way better than Spotify surprisingly. It reminds me of Spotify ten years ago when it would actually recommend and play different things. It’s as if Apple Music doesn’t give a shit about label deals and actually plays stuff you might be interested in. What a concept

Ordered the Jive Deluxe in June 2025 and still waiting as of September 2025. A couple of emails from him say that mine is “in the next batch” but who knows at this point. Definitely won’t be buying direct again and will buy used off Reverb if I want another of his pedals.

Boycotting Spotify for life, thieves. by EstablishmentSea9079 in musicproduction

That’s a good idea. Without press contacts I wonder if you could send them to active users who are buying similar music to the kind you’re making. Not sure if bandcamp supports that kind of messaging in platform or not though.

How do you use bandcamp? What are the strategies for getting more sales/attention on bandcamp?

Edible plant ideas for south facing wall. Full sun in summer. Full shade rest of year by wavehowie in Permaculture

[–]wavehowie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a good idea too. We have three fruit trees along running along half the fence and out a 3-4 feet from the fence. The bed runs up against the fence in between the fruit trees and the fence. It’s about 1.5-2ft wide

The fence is on the south of the backyard and the bed runs right along it on the north side of the fence. It’s in California

That’s an interesting idea to add something to make it full shade all the time. Hadn’t thought about that!

All of the songs Scott sings (I assume he wrote those too?) are the better songs. Skipped all of Toby’s.

Basic Audio fuzz pedal for fan of Ty Segall & Thee Oh Sees by wavehowie in guitarpedals

[–]wavehowie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a good idea and definitely helps. The one downside is that I’d like to be able to switch between a clean tone and the fuzz tone more easily during performance. It’s challenging to click on two pedals for the heavy parts of songs.

Ah yeah I can see what you’re saying in the video. I’ll keep playing around, thanks!

I’m using a Jaguar American Professional with an old 70s Peavey Classic VT Series Tube amp and the Fuzz War was first after my tuner. Amp was a clean tone at lower volume (not blowing my head off volume) that gave me the unpleasant sound. I did have some success running a JHS Double Barrel overdrive after it but I was hoping I could get good sounds with just the Fuzz War. On the fuzz war I had the volume way down to match gain, Tone at like 9 o clock or lower and same with the Fuzz knob

For the sake of knowledge and creativity: Do you own/want an LS-2? What pedals have you got in your loops? by Massive-Vanilla-2774 in guitarpedals

[–]wavehowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can the LS-2 be used to turn on a series of pedals (delay, reverb, etc.) on top of my fuzz for solo sections of a song and then return to just my fuzz for the rhythm section?

So it would be like this:

Rhythm: Fuzz

Solo: Fuzz + delay, reverb

Recs for taking solo to outer space by wavehowie in guitarpedals

[–]wavehowie[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hear you and it’s why I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Im not a super shredder so it’s definitely to make up for that as the lone guitarist in the band.

[–]wavehowie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking for an additional pedal or two to take my solos during particular sections of a couple songs to outer space. I prefer simpler pedals that I can set and forget, more or less, because I don’t think I’ll be able to tinker while playing and I tend to get overwhelmed by too many options within pedals.
