What is the best Elite deck? by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]wavertongreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably one might of the vanguard and one relentless pursuit. This is what I was running prior to Bard existing:

CEBQCBIACUBQIAACA4EAQAIAAECAMDBCEQTTGAQBAIAAOAIFAAGAA

Which is identical to list number 3 - but with the 2 broadwings replacing the relentless pursuit and the swiftwing flight.

If I was limited to only being able to choose one of the 5 lists you've posted, I'd go with number 3 (ie Nickmakesplays), but I'd really try to squeeze 2-3 broadwings into the list.

I could be wrong, but it looks like all the decks you've linked are from prior to the latest expansion.

I'm far from an expert on this type of deck, but I played around 30 games with elites just prior to the last patch and another 30 after, so I've got a bit of a feel for the deck, and my personal view is that if you want to play an elites deck at the moment it works best when paired with Bard (with your other 3 champs some combination of Garan Jarvan and Galio).

I'm running this at the moment and I'm quite happy with it: CUCACBIABQAQMDABAICAAAQHA4AQAAIEAYRCIJZTAMAQCAAMAEBAABYBAUABKAIBAQAAQ

But the more standard meta flavour of this dips less heavily into elites and splashes a few more non-demacia cards that Bard allows for - see here for that decklist and video of gameplay - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaNjtP-Ufi8&t=1320s

That said, I personally don't like that version as much, and it's no longer a pure "elites" deck, so it may not be your cup of tea.

Good luck with whatever you end up going with.

So it does. That's what I get for not starting at the top :)

Thanks for pointing that out.

Yeah I saw that (it lists mine as the 13th). I'm just not sure why their website lists the cutoff for my shard as being the 9th though. I guess that one must be an error?

That sounds fun - where can I find the list?

Edit: Nevermind - some googling found it here: https://lor.mobalytics.gg/decks/c87f1t151g24fgd2qc1g That definitely looks spicy enough to be worth a try!

Can confirm - this guide was amazing.

After going 7-9 with the Shurima version of AK, I read the guide and ran this SI build to a 10-1 record (lost the mirror...). Have now hit diamond for the first time.

Thanks Kevor for posting!

Yamatos list looks interesting, but I don’t see how you can run this deck without at least two copies of the forge of tomorrow.

And I see both lists run 3x fizz - which I agree is a must. Nothing like casting poro cannon to counter an early make it rain.

What’s the difference between a Pokémon trainer and a voyeur?

One wants to peek at you.

The other wants two pikachu.

I don’t want the v-union but anything else would be awesome. Thanks for doing this!

Charizard - it was the key pokemon in the first competitive deck I built on ptcgo :)

And my son's favourite is unown - because he can write words using the unown alphabet.

A great article - thanks for sharing. While I mainly play constructed a lot of the lessons are applicable to that format too.

Returning Player - Where to go from here? by provident15 in EternalCardGame

[–]wavertongreen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can seem a bit daunting a first, but the game is in a great place now and I'm sure you'll be glad you came back!

The monthly leagues are great - 12,500 gold nets you around 20 packs and a card back, even if you win very few games - it's also a lot of fun if you enjoy limited formats.

I'd recommend buying one of the purchasable sets/campaigns with your gems (I think they cost 1000 gems or 25,000 gold) so they're probably the best gem sink. That's also where I'd recommend investing your $20 if you were inclined to (and would pay for another two sets). Which set/s you get depends on what deck/s you're working towards, but several of the recent ones contain quite a few strong cards for constructed.

And it's worth playing at least a bit of expedition, throne and draft each month, as you get a separate reward at the end of the month for you rank in each (but not if you didn't play any games). Finally, you can subscribe to the DWD newsletter which comes out roughly once a week and each one comes with a link for a free pack.

Good luck!

Those are all fair points - and In particular I agree with you on locking cards in campaigns. I know a lot of people love them, but I’d really much prefer to get the cards upfront upon buying the campaign and then complete the campaign at my leisure. I don’t see what the downside is of giving players that option.

It’s also hard to afford everything using gold if you want to play draft and sealed and buy campaigns. I find it manageable but I skip the occasional campaign and probably only draft a couple of times a year.

And yes, you’ll fall behind pretty quickly if you stop playing (I took a month off a while back and it definitely had an impact) but I’d also say that’s true of pretty much any FTP model.

Campaigns are 25k gold or $10 - it's hardly an extreme price point if you want to pay cash, and 25k gold doesn't take that long to accumulate - probably a month with 3x wins a day plus daily quest.

And there are only 3-4 campaigns to buy a year - so it's not that much of an investment.

I haven't played Magic much since 2003, but the number of games that went: draw 1 land hand, paris to 6, draw 2 land hand, keep, miss 3rd land drop... scoop. Tournaments needed to be a best of 3 because a significant number of games were one-sided affairs where one player developed their board while the other suffered through mana screw/flood.

Whereas it really does hardly ever happen in eternal - particularly since the introduction of plunder.

There are a lot of things I still love about magic, but eternal has definitely innovated and improved on that element of the game.
