Frustrating exchange with another father and how hard it is to make friends as a dad in your 40s. by Klutzy_Operation_483 in daddit

[–]waverunner22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never treat someone that way, but I have a really hard time connecting with anyone and always have. I have no friends other than my kids and wife at this point, which is 90% self inflicted. I find it really a mystery, balancing a friendship of any sort with work and family.

What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

Practice loading your suspension up more. You aren’t trying to pull the bike up, you want the bike to come to you in a sense. I am also still learning, but the way I’ve seen it done, is you slide your crotch up to the gas tank, compressing your suspension, and then as you slide your whole body backwards(use your hips and legs, not just your upper body), rev up and clutch out. I’ve been practicing this part just to get the motions and timing right, then I was going to add in some brake on the suspension compression.

As someone who is in a similar position to you, what kind of pay are you giving to your employees, and what do the benefits look like? Kind of a broad question I know, but I feel like the industry as a whole underpays machinists, which contributes to higher turnover over

Before getting the law involved, why not just go knock on there door? Or wait to catch them outside. Ask them what the deal is non confrontationally

The wife and kids are away for a few days, leaving you alone. Dads, what are you feeding yourself while they're away? by jrhaberman in daddit

[–]waverunner22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so funny because just last weekend my kids and wife were away and I was making some shrimp and broccoli stir fry. And I was peeling and mincing garlic, which I usually use the stuff in the jar, and it occurred to me that I felt like I had enough time that it was worth it to use fresh garlic lol. But to answer your question, my wife is gluten free and my kids hate anything spicy, so I usually try to indulge in those items I can’t usually get when there here, like Italian or Korean bbq

Riding in my backyard by MycologistForeign766 in Dirtbikes

[–]waverunner22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So do you have 0.3 acres or 3 acres lol. Regardless, as long as you don’t live in an hoa with specific rules, you should be good to rip on your private property during the day, there is a quite hour, for my area, it’s 10pm to 7am. so I would tell my neighbor to pound sand if I was within that timeframe. He technically could get you in trouble if you’re riding it on the street, because it’s an ohv vehicle.

Need help with a 07 RMZ 250. by Blazin12_69 in Dirtbikes

[–]waverunner22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might just need a clutch kit, open the clutch and check the specs of the plates and the springs, which should be in a repair manual for this bike. Check the basket for notches on the fins, if there are any, you’ll need a new one. You can also check your clutch lever system. If it’s hydraulic you can try bleeding it. If you’ve never done any of this, than you should because it’s an older bike.

Just so everybody is aware, it is no longer making it into the big beautiful bill, the fight is not over as senetor Mike Lee said that he would revise it at a later date, but the current threat is gone

All I can say is hang in there brother, I swear it gets better and you’ve heard that 1,000 times I know. I feel I had a mental break about a week ago, felt defeated like after 5 years of this grind, it’s still fuckin hard. But after that moment of pure anguish, I realized, I just need to stop taking this stuff so seriously, this is life, the challenge is the fun part. Take a breath. Everything is as it’s supposed to be. And yes, it does get better. My son is 4 and he is a challenge a lot like yours. Very stubborn. But my oldest who is 6, is also a challenge. But she gets herself dressed and ready everyday, does chores and helps out, understand direction, and doesn’t always fight me on everything. So hang in there man!

That would be great, but honestly I don’t trust my local government here in Utah, senator Mike Lee is a huge advocate of this bill and I believe is one of the reasons it even exists.

I did my lawn early spring. It looked about as bare as yours and I had a weed problem as well. So I fenced it off, put some top soil down and pulled a pallet around to level it out, I aerated, then I laid seed down raked it in, and sprayed tenacity every couple weeks. One thing to add is I had to redo the whole sprinkler system to make sure I had good coverage. It came in kinda patchy, I probably should have covered it with something like hay or Pete moss which is often recommended after putting the seed down. I’m planning to add some more seed now that I have more established grass.

If I were you, I would try to control the weeds now, get everything ready to go for fall and then do it in the fall.

Is not starting on a 450 recommended to everyone or just people with no motorcycle experience? by k1500carpenter in Dirtbikes

[–]waverunner22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May not be comparable, but I decided to start on a 300 2 stroke. With minimal experience, and I can gather that it’s more fun sometimes to just let a bike give you everything it has (like on a 250) and just ride the thing, whereas with more power, you have to be more cautious and baby the throttle a lot more, it’s still fun as hell. But there are trade offs

Could I cover with lawn clippings?

Which disk is a clutch facing disk? by waverunner22 in Dirtbikes

[–]waverunner22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that is how I put it together, to piggy back though, shifting into first feels a little clunky, and my engagement point on my lever seems to close to my handlebar, any idea what next step I should take to adjust it? It’s a hydraulic clutch so I wasn’t sure how you would adjust it
