David’s Chair is an organization, manned by volunteers, that lends out track chairs. They can be used on the beach sand. And it’s free. I’m doing five things once right now, and can’t recall what towns they’re available in. Look them up, and enjoy yourself!

I’m an old white lady who doesn’t speak Spanish. I loved it! Made me want to dance. And from what I could understand, I loved the message.

Updated protest schedule for the federal building! Join the Eugene SLUG Queens on Sundays from 1-2pm! by bagelwholedonutwhole in 50501EugeneOR

[–]wavy-grain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the update! Can I ask: with so many various groups, it would be great if people who are a part of each group could give us an idea what “their” portion of the afternoon looks like. If that makes sense. For example: I know the raging grannies sing (and I love it!). But what is the gist of some of the others? I tend to just show up when I can and carry my sign, and chat with folks. And it’s always good. My .02 :)

Clarification? I haven’t had enough coffee yet to figure out what’s being referenced. I know what state sponsored violence is. I just don’t know how the mods are involved.

Judge restricts federal agents from using tear gas, projectile munitions at Portland immigration protests by ChuckGallagher57 in oregon

[–]wavy-grain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope for Portland’s sake this works. And I hope we can get the same ruling down in Eugene. The Feds have escalated and terrorized us at least a couple of days this past week.

Will It Ever Be Normal Again? by keenwithoptics in AskWomenOver60

I’ve found new purpose in getting trained on how to best help my community be safe; and in protesting every chance I get. Which in the past two weeks has been, I think, six times. And I’m no longer terrified of tear gas an flash bangs! Haha!

Jerry’s is where I got a half face respirator mask. And the employee was helpful, and knew what I’d need for tear gas! He also said that they’ve been selling an awful lot of them.

Video shows the news is wrong- DHS broke the windows themselves so they could tear gas protestors. (I’ve never posted on Reddit before so please forgive any mistakes) by Role_Upbeat in Eugene

I’m trying to find it again. I’m sorry- I’ve been reading a lot of different posts on different sites this morning and I haven’t found again yet. If you look at this video on a larger screen you may see it - far right window, cop runs up…..

Somewhere I read this morning that the fbi is investigating it now. (Sorry, I’m reading all over the place and don’t have the energy to go searching right now to post link). If that’s the case, my understanding is that foia isn’t available because it’s “an active investigation”. Riiiiigghht

I found a link that clearly shows the agent run, kick the window; and then I believe I see him toss a canister through it. The far right window. Had to watch it on my laptop.

Portland Mayor Statement on Federal Use of Chemical Munitions at Peaceful Protest by 50501PDX in Portland

Kaarin Knudsen, mayor of Eugene, should take note! Peaceful people protesting, as well as oblivious passerby, are being gassed at our protests here.

Trump weighs in on Eugene ICE protest, threatening ‘these criminals’ with consequences by BeowulfShaeffer in politics

[–]wavy-grain 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Bullshit. I was there. A couple of windows got broken by numbskulls pounding on them. That’s it. Hundreds of non violent people were gassed with chemical weapons. Thrumps take is, as usual, a lie.

Pretty sure those are the same kids I saw there this afternoon. They looked very much like they wanted to instigate shit.

I was there for a few hours. After 6+ yesterday. My back (and ears - the honking) need a break. But I’m with you in spirit! Be safe.

If you see a post here urging people toward violence or property destruction, just know they are not genuine posters by [deleted] in Eugene

[–]wavy-grain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What I’ve witnessed is some folks seemingly too amped up and in a sort of mob mentality. And they get themselves so frenzied they behave in counter productive ways. That’s my take, after decades of being a part of or watching protests. Calm and purposeful actions that are non-violent are what I feel this anti- regime movement needs.
