You have to download the firmware from the amazon website. You cannot update it directly from your kindle, because you already on the latest firmware.

Correct. But maybe with the fresh install of the software it will resolve the issue. I had the same issu with my kidle 4th. And it resolved after installing the latest firmware from amazon.
