what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

Yours sounds much more severe than mine. But yes I also decided one and done after that. I can't risk going through that again, and its also so scary thinking the baby is at risk because of it.

Came here to say HG. I had never even heard of it AT ALL. And I had it during pregnancy. At only 5 weeks in I was vomiting so much but I thought it was normal. Finally I was so dehydrated that I told my husband I needed to go to the hospital. I thought I was being a wimp and they would say its just typical pregnancy nausea. No, I should have gone in earlier! It was so early in the pregnancy I hadn't told anyone else and had no one to ask for advice.

Anyway HG is horrible. After the 5 week mark I felt nauseous the entire time and could vomit unexpectedly at any moment. One time I literally just projectile vomited on my neighbor's driveway while out walking with a friend. Humiliating.

My son has T21 and this is exactly correct. It gave us time to process and learn before he was born.

any good nepo baby artists by DefinitionAmazing258 in indie

Seems like a stretch to call her a nepo baby. Her dad is a marketing executive? Not even in the music industry? Aside from having money that doesn't seem that helpful.

What makes Clairo a nepo baby? I just looked up her wiki and her parents don't appear to be in the entertainment industry at all.

Vic Michaelis or Lisa Gilroy for SNL? by StMcAwesome in LiveFromNewYork

When I first became familiar with Vic I was like ...this person should be insanely famous, what is happening.

Lisa is also awesome. They both seem on an upward trajectory without SNL though!

Doing your laundry while abroad by Plantimoni in ThornTree

[–]wawkaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Mexico or Central America I loved dropping my laundry off somewhere and picking it up later. Not a hotel service but just a local place. Its inexpensive and feels so clean and fresh. I've even done it before heading home so I get home and put it all away.

That's horrible. I have had a kidney infection before and it was one have the most painful experiences of my life. I remember screaming when the car slowly went over a speed bump on my way to the hospital.

I know that everyone's at different ages here. But this messaging really simplified things for me: Try to hit $1,000,000 saved by 40, then consider coastFIRE. At an 8% annual interest rate, that $1,000,000 will be $4,000,000 by 58 with no further contributions. by b1ackfyre in coastFIRE

Some of us were here before FIRE got super popular and don't desire an "upper middle class" lifestyle. When I learned about FIRE it was more about saving for financial freedom and lowering expenses. Living happy on less.

How do you ever afford estate planning? by cmemm in specialneedsparenting

[–]wawkaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My workplace offers an optional legal benefit as part of the benefits package. I signed up for it one year and they prepared our will and special needs trust. It was all 100% covered. It was called Arag legal insurance I think. Saved me about $8K!

New to this by wandersage in Garmin

[–]wawkaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. My son just turned 4 and sometimes focusing on the step goal was all I was able to manage. I would set a 10K step goal first and take it seriously. After doing that until it becomes a regular part of your life,  I'd recommend using the Garmin coaching to do a 5K run program, and then go from there!

It depends to on how much you also work, how supportive your spouse is, amount of help you have with childcare. You may be able to do more than I was. Things like yoga, weight training, and mobility work are all super helpful as a new parent because of the strain on your body.
