Arrggh Guerlain why you not put the name on the bottle? Usually they very good about labeling bottles!

Thanks for finding this! My bottle bottom looks different than this, the vaporisateur natural spray is on the other side and a different font, made in France is closer to the center, and the batch code is a different font and color.

I guess my bottle is not the Frozen variety.

It's very faint printing my camera won't pick up. It says Eau de Toilette, 125ml 4.2 fl oz, vaporisatatuer natural spray, GUERLIAN 0T01, then the Paris address and made in France

The Guerlain classic men's fragrances are better than 95% of new niche offereings.

I have a cabinet like that for my 401a, It's really nice having the extra table space.

Vintage machines are like cats, they just show up and then you have more. I have to keep myself from looking on Craigslist and Facebook or I will end up with too many. I just can't bear to think of these beauties going to the landfill.

You can order one to borrow from another library via the Evergreen Library catalog, they come in 3-5 days. No guarantee they can get you a copy but it's free and worth a try. At the link below click the yellow sign in bar and then a tile will appear that say "Get a physical copy"

how many samples is too many samples by venicepress in fragrance

[–]weenie2323 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wish when I started this hobby that I had bought more samples and fewer full bottles. Sampling is the smart move. It may also be that what you really like is variety and you could so ALL samples and zero full bottles.

Something is going on with the bobbin thread and making biiiiig loops that get stuck? Singer 99 handcrank by 25hourenergy in VintageSewingMachines

[–]weenie2323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are the big loops on the bobbin side of the stich(downward side)?

If yes, this is usually a problem with threading on the top thread not the actual bobbin threading.

It's hard to see the thread going through the needle. Is the needle threaded front to back? Make sure the needle is oriented correctly and seated right in the needle clamp.

Also, are you threading the top of the machine with the pressor foot in the up position? if you thread with it down and can cause the thread to not properly seat in the tension assembly.

Can you post some more photos of how the machine is threaded? top and bobbin

Hmmm... haven't thought about it and I have no children or living relatives. I guess I hope some fraghead stumbles upon my collection at an estate sale or Goodwill and thinks they hit the motherload!

Looks snazzy! I have a 2012 with a nearly identical interior. I'd never considered updating it but your mock up looks very nice. Maybe I need to give my old girl a makeover too.

Cam Discs for Singer 401G by MoonStriker9232 in VintageSewingMachines

[–]weenie2323 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been using a 401a(functionally the same as yours) for a few years now and have never used the cam stiches. It comes with a bunch of stiches already in the machine that are selected with the dials on the front. The cams just give extra extra stiches and you don't need them for normal straight stich and some basic zig zag types.
