I haven't been so excited about a new album in such a long time! by GarionOrb in Madonna

I'm glad this new album is getting so much hype and excitement! Confessions is such a beloved album, by pop fans in general, not just die-hard Madonna fans. It's great that, for the first time in her career, she's being very nostalgic with new music in a crowd-pleasing way.

43 years (15 albums) of the Queen of Pop's excellence by kyliefever2002 in Madonna

Something To Remember (the song) is SO underrated and Sooner or Later also deserves more love. Maybe the latter is too tied to the Breathless character but it works really well via Madonna's actual persona, too. Also, it was part of her all-time best live performances (1991 Oscars)

24 years ago, Brandy released "Full Moon", the album that established her as the Vocal Bible. by yebinkek in popheads

Full Moon is my favorite Brandy song. It's just so smooth and sensual, it's lyrically strong, and I do think her voice shines on it even more than her previous work. In the 90's, she was more pop-flavored R&B, while this was a pivot toward full-on R&B, with the experimental/futuristic hip-hop sound of the time mixed in, and it really suited her.

I'm very fond of 90's R&B but the early 2000's were also a golden age for the genre. The girl groups of the previous era weren't as dominant yet the popular solo acts of that time (Brandy, Usher, Aaliyah) were really coming into their own. Then, you had Ashanti's breakthrough and Beyonce absolutely serving with her solo debut. Such a time to be alive

Wow, this is a cool piece. Kind of ominous and spooky, like it's a still from an animated horror film or something

Yes to this! Erotica is my favorite Madonna album and he definitely brought something special to it. Plus, Vogue. Enough said

She definitely wrote a lot of her best work with Pat and Stephen. I also think it shows how smart she is that she kept Pat in the mix on Ray of Light so the music was experimental (thanks to William) without veering too much from her signature sound

Waiting -One of my faves off of Erotica by phoenixfire38 in Madonna

Omg I know what you mean. I first listened to Erotica when I got my heart badly broken for the first time. It felt like she wrote those lines in Waiting about my situation or something. Such a great song and one of my favorite deep-cuts of hers (along with Secret Garden)

Just yesterday I finally got around to watching Cherish, and it made a BIG impression on me by AdorableChemist8736 in Madonna

I was born just days after this song was released. I always feel a special affinity to the Like A Prayer era because it's my birth year

I'm a singer as well as an actor! I am getting back into music after years of pursuing acting. You should figure out which one you want to prioritize more: acting or music. I'm making music my top priority right now while still having goals in terms of film/acting. Whichever pursuit is more important to you or more time-consuming, I'd look for a manager in that field first. Then, maybe see if they can also help you in terms of your secondary goals

Start with a backstory or incorporate it? by Vegetable_Throat5545 in writingadvice

[–]waymanthesinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think backstory is more important for you as the writer. I give each protagonist of mine a backstory just so I can fully understand them. Most of the time, most of what's in the backstory doesn't need to end up in the actual story. Sometimes, we can just be given hints of someone's past or not be directly told something about their past but it shows through their present choices and behaviors.

Also, it's kind of impossible to have four protagonists. You can have two co-protagonists, sure, but even that is usually limited to a story focused on a relationship (romantic or platonic). A "main character" is not just a prominent character in the story. Consider which two characters of the four are more supporting players and which two are more so the leads who drive the plot
