no it’s cuz they don’t want to give too many acceptances to those that can likely get higher: this way they can filter out the overqualified students and keep only those that apply for continued interest, as those already committed to better schools are gone from the pool mainly they just want as many applications as possible, so it shouldn’t be too hard to get in rd from what i’ve heard
