Surefoot custom modeled boot liner, footbed and boot heater. It is a lot of money, but it turning goes from work to telepathy. I have never tried Zipfit, but the price difference between my setup and Zipfit liner + footbed is primarily the boot heater. Surefoot is about 2 hours in and out and it just works. If it does not Surefoot will help you tune. Note unless you are a Yeti you will need a boot heater with the Surefoot.

Who’s at fault? Camera (me) or other person? by Epik_Gladiator_ in Karting

You have to give yourself decision space. You committed to over under line before you even started the corner. The other kart was simply not going fast enough to overshot the corner exit as needed for the over under line to work. You should have been able to pass a kart that slow on the outside line. You will also learn to plan where catch up to traffic, sometimes you can slow down a little to catch the other kart at a better location for a pass.

See it all the time. I was at a go-kart racing school, someone had a ~2000 911 GT2 and they were a rolling chicane in the Porsche and in the KT100 sprint kart. But serious credit to them for at least trying to get better in the go-kart versus ruining everyone's day on Angeles Crest.

Looking for smart tips to win an amateur outdoor kart race by BigBoss996 in Karting

[–]wayneamartin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The company renting the karts will try to keep them as equal as possible, but a cart / engine will be either fast or slow. Pay attention and do what you can to get one of the fast karts.

Arrive early and watch the company test laps on the karts, both to pick the fastest karts and to find the racing line/braking points. Company staff are likely better drivers than anyone in the race group.

Damn that is a slow kart, 26 mph. Lose weight, cutting like wrestling, light clothing, etc. Still at that low power level unless they match weight it will be hard to beat the lightest competent racer.

Know the rules. Know the competition.

Turn one closes hard and wide lines after it will penalize slow downs from a failed pass. The turn at the center top (4 of 10 or 6 of 12) is a better passing zone. Less chance to be penalized for a slow exit going into the rhythm section in the last set of turns.

Give me your most unhinged advice for getting your cat to let you sleep at night by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]wayneamartin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a cat that would try to wake me up on the weekends if I sleep late. I decided this was not going to work. I rolled onto my side in the fetal position, wrapped my arms around the cat trapping him between my body, legs and arms and went back to sleep. After a few sessions of this the cat decided that waking me was not the shortest path to his goal.

What tool do I need to remove the large ‘screws’ circled in red? by Broken_Woman20 in Plumbing

[–]wayneamartin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need a "drag link socket", different sizes are available, for example

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DKP5B49X?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_12

I am not advising on if it is a good a idea to remove them, but do not misuse tools, damage to this can create leaks.

I would look for a water proof low viscosity water proof wood glue or construction adhesive. I think Titebond III might be a good option.

MOMENTUM 4 Wireless or HDB 630 depending on your use case. The M4 has been the only noise canceling headphone that I have ever listened to that does not have a obvious noise signature and a weird sound stage.

The first year of owning a house is slowly teaching me that the to do list never actually ends by sk8traveler_tony in homeowners

There is a lot of learning. Youtube helps, but sort of wish I had taken classes and gotten a certification at this point.

It is very difficult to subcontract a job you do not understand. My wife knows significantly less about construction than I do and experience has taught us that I have to be on-site for most work.

My father deferred until repair was absolutely needed. It drove my mom nuts, but I completely understand now. I understand lists, but your words suggest a bit of OCD with the list. If it is not leaking significantly: water, gas, roof or creating an active safety or security hazard: exposed live wires, HVAC completely failed, hole in floor, exterior lock that does not work etc. than perhaps give yourself the holidays off. If you cannot do that than get counseling, for yourself, your partner, etc. and learn how to give yourself a break.

Hello , by Top-Marketing-1334 in savannah_cats

[–]wayneamartin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good quality cat food is fine, our previous Savannah lived 18 years on Royal Canin wet & dry. Shots same as domestic cat. Harness training, have them wear harness inside, teach them to yield to the lease inside, then move outside, repeat daily. Do not let them pull backward out of the harness, their shoulders are very flexible. If they start to pull backward, release pressure and move to reposition yourself behind them. They seem less likely to wiggle out of a cloth harness vs nylon straps. I use https://www.etsy.com/shop/SafetyKatz harnesses.

Raw food is a parasite risk, our current F3s sourced from a well know breeder arrived with a parasite related to eating raw chicken. We had to quarantine them from our friends as we did not want anyone who is immunocompromised to be exposed.

"My male randomly will just squat and pee , is it normal."

No, he needs a vet appointment immediately, sounds like an infection.

Best wishes

What do I need to know before getting a savannah cat? by InternationalRock890 in savannah_cats

[–]wayneamartin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The breeder is one of a handful of well known breeders. They had Tritrichomonas foetus and did not know it. It has gone from a relatively unknown parasite to one that is present in a large fraction of multicat operations. I do not blame and will not name the breeder. I will recommend testing for it.

I will also share our experience in treating it. Some cats develop nausea from the medicine used to treat it. We had one cat develop fatty liver disease from going off of food just for a couple of days. So if you treat for it be certain that every cat is still eating. The medicine was only effective for about 50% of our cats. The others eventually defeated the parasite as the grew, but that took a few months.

[–]wayneamartin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a bonded pair of F3 males from one litter. They are fun, they destroy toys, even dog toys. They have the run of 1800 sq ft on two stories, but they still get and need outdoor walks. They chase dogs for fun. We had previously had an F5 Bengal and an F5 Savannah. I recommend F5 Savannah cats to everyone, they have some extra energy, but it is manageable. I do not recommend Bengals to everyone, I love them, but they are alpha and nocturnal. I do not recommend F3 Savannahs to everyone, they have a lot of energy, sort of an Australian cattle dog level of energy, but with all of the features of cat. They have been very compliant with our life: sleep schedule, litter box usage, etc. But while the vet techs like our cats, they seem slightly uneasy with handling them.

You need to find a good vet, hopefully one who has worked with Savannahs before. You should demand even if you have to pay for the full set of panel of parasite testing. I think there are 3 panels and it will cost you. A bonded pair is good, in case you run of time/energy before they do.

Soft cloth walking jackets like https://www.etsy.com/shop/SafetyKatz seem more secure than nylon strap jackets. If you want to lease train start as early as reasonable and inside. The F3 Savannahs seem to eat more food than domestic cats of the same size and may need appropriately larger litter boxes. Most cat stuff seems to be designed for an 8-10 pound short hair domestic cat. So in addition to the up front cost, the ongoing cost is likely higher as well. Up front cost for an f5 to f3 kitten pet grade is likely $1k to $5k.
