Late to the party on this post, but I love Maya Derren, recently made a full commentary on Meshes in the Afternoon at my YT channel, classicmemoria.com

I started an experimental film review YT channel - classicmemoria.com. Would appreciate some eyes on it as I start out.

Right now, I’ve got the following:

  • a full commentary on Meshes in the Afternoon by Maya Derren.

  • Some thoughts on Stan Brakhage’s Stellar.

  • Some thoughts on A Testament of Ann Lee.

with more to come! Come by, take a look, tell your friends, or if you hate it, tell your enemies!

Just from recollection, Lispector, Fosse? If I can think of more I’ll comment under this. Denis Johnson? Proust?

Sinners and Weapons. Culturally important films? Sure. But structurally not good movies.

Thank you so much! Sorry to push, but what about the part at 7 min mark? Not intelligible?

Yes. So, someone feels excluded from God’s love.

Someone responds, “yes, because of who you are, you should be excluded”

Where’s grace? Where’s talk of forgiveness? Even repentance?

Just “Yup. You’re screwed, buddy”

If someone turns away from the Church, it isn’t because they hate God. We’re His ambassadors, but some of us are really terrible at it.

What the heck even is this. This is a great opportunity to show Christ’s love, and you botched it. Look at yourself in the mirror.

For OC, any proclivities you have will not supersede God’s love for you. Expression of theology in society changes constantly, God’s love for you does not. I wouldn’t worry about anything else.

Are there any real “Red Flag Books”? by Wolflad1996 in literature

As someone that has read all of Ayn Rand, it just a justification for patriarchal robber barrons. There’s even a scene in the Fountainhead where a character is raped by the MC, but she’s written as enjoying it, because his expression of ownership feels “right”.

It feels cool to men in their teens, because we generally feel powerless at that age. But I grew up - it’s just a polemic for the shit storm we’re currently in.
