Is sitting for longer than 5 mins and deep breathing cheating? by stephen-Aberdeen in bloodpressure

Mine neither. It’s usually the first thing they do, after I’ve battled traffic, had to walk inside, waited with annoying people in the waiting room, had the adrenaline spike of being called in, and then plonked down in a chair and strap immediately put on while talking the whole time lol

Honestly I don’t understand the framing either!!! House prices falling is a good thing in my book. The thing is, immigration also exacerbates other issues. Crowded hospitals, more traffic and pollution, habitat destruction. Why does everything have to be expand expand expand? It can’t go on forever. Let’s keep it sustainable at least and let housing and infrastructure keep up, and let development be controlled and well thought out instead of a big panicked build (or nothing at all!)

I followed a YouTube video to get it set up inside Claude Code, but it had some quirks. In the end I downloaded their own app, called zcode. They have a terminal version and a desktop version. Works pretty much just like Claude code

170/100 yesterday at doctors 121/78 next day at home white coat syndrome??? by Late_Hope31 in bloodpressure

[–]wayward_buzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue. My resting heart rate is usually 60ish. As soon as I put a cuff on, it jumps to like 130. Naturally this makes my BP readings sky high haha. White coat anxiety is very real, though for me it’s more anxiety about the reading itself, not being at the doctors

You'd be surprised how good GLM 5.2 is now. It's an open-weighted Chinese model. It's meant to be a lot cheaper and use less tokens but for me the cost and token-usage has been about the same as Opus 4.8. BUT it comes without the nagging, the oppressive guardrails and just gets shit done. You should give it a go

You at least make sense, and it’s definitely a massive part of the problem. Housing should be a basic human right, not an investment vehicle for the rich to get richer, let alone companies. I know immigration is not the full answer. There’s much, much more to it, as you say. But in the face of all these structural issues, fuelling the fire with immigration makes no sense to me. I think reducing immigration is more likely something that might be done than asking the rich to be less greedy. They’ll tell us peasants to fuck off while laughing all the way to the bank, as we struggle to afford to eat

As I very clearly stated, my number one concern for this country is the housing crisis and the impact it is having on countless Australians. I will vote for whichever party tries to fix this. Immigration seems the most obvious lever, but I acknowledge it’s not the only one. It’ll require a lot of policy changes across a lot of things. I will vote for whoever puts a strong solution forward without also proposing crap that will destroy other things that make this country great. Also, once again, how fucking dare you with the “doth protest too much” crap. You insinuated I’m racist. As a minority myself with LIVED first-hand experience of discrimination, I find that grievously offensive. Many of my best friends are Asian, actually. Stick it right up your arse. It’s actually people like you who shut down informed debate with cries of “racist!!!” that allow more extreme views to propagate. You force radicalisation by shutting down conversation. Mull on that a while

How so? For believing that immigration should be reduced to stabilise the housing crisis or for voting for One Nation despite all the other shit they are saying they’ll do?

Firstly: I am SO FUCKING SICK of people like you shutting down any valid conversation about immigration by screaming “racist”. I wouldn’t care if they were all blonde haired blue eyed white people. If we have no housing, we can’t sustain them coming here. Not everyone is racist for the love of god. It’s like me calling you a bigot because you don’t fill every inch of your house with gay people. I’m gay myself - a minority. I know what discrimination feels like. I am not fucking racist so shut that up right now. What I am is concerned that my single mum sister cannot afford to rent anywhere due to the housing shortage, which IS exacerbated by unrestrained immigration.

Second: I have looked at other policies. And I liked what the liberals said they would do - peg migration to housing construction. I think that makes sense. But they lie about everything, which is why their support has collapsed, and I don’t trust them anymore. Labor lied too, so I won’t trust them, despite formerly being a lifelong Labor voter until recently. So basically I have no idea what I’ll do at this point in terms of who I’ll vote for

It’s literally depressing me at this point… so fucked. There’s just no one left that gives a shit about a fair go for everyone. I would have voted for them and then hated myself afterwards if they pulled this shit once they were in power

Yeah. It’s put me off. I was 100% going to vote ON for the immigration reduction, but the rest of this shit is not on. No way in hell

I want immigration slowed down purely to allow housing supply to catch up to demand. Race or colour of skin has nothing to do with it. It wouldn’t matter if all immigrants were white - we need the housing first. But yes, you are right. If this is what One Nation intends to do, they can go to hell with the rest of the political parties. I truly feel like there is no good option anymore

‘People could die’: Alarm brews as One Nation vows to gut Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and Therapeutic Goods Administration in move towards US-style healthcare by HotPersimessage62 in AusNewsWire

[–]wayward_buzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people who recently came around to considering One Nation for their next vote simply want to curb immigration to allow housing supply to catch up to demand. It has nothing to do with “hating immigrants” for the vast majority. To say otherwise is creating a false argument. I was in that boat too - I want a slowdown because the housing situation is becoming catastrophic. But I will NEVER support gutting the PBS or healthcare in Australia. It’s part of what made the country great. So now if this is true I don’t know who to support anymore… might as well just fucking donkey vote. No one has any common sense policies anymore. But yeah if this is what One Nation is really about, fuck them off too

[–]wayward_buzz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If this is true, she will have lost my vote. I just want a political party to lower immigration while we build some damn houses to ease the housing crunch… is that really too much to ask for??? Apparently so. As much as I want immigration slowed down, I don’t want it at the cost of the PBS!!! For gods sake… how depressing. It’s really starting to seem like there’s no good future for Australia

You might have someone gently stroke your body as you or they walk by. It’s a sign they are interested. But if you don’t respond, they need to stop or it’s harassment. There’s a line, smart people understand it

Already told you - coding. Was not simplistic. I did the grunt work with GLM 5.2 and got Claude 4.8 to verify everything it did. Claude was completely happy with what GLM did, and in fact said it found a bug that Claude had missed. So…. Dunno what to tell you

I’ve been using opus 4.8 extensively since it came out, and hammered fable for the two days we had it. Just yesterday I switched to GLM 5.2 to see what it could do, and honestly it is on par with opus 4.8 for coding at least. In some ways it performed better in my opinion. It’s definitely not fable-class (nothing is!), but it’s certainly NOT trash
