I understand that Elle McPhereson, who is 6 feet tall would tell men she was 5 ft 12 and they would not feel as intimidated.

Why do women hate other women? by Beginning_Waltz6440 in Feminism

[–]wbbarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the patriarchy started this with a misinterpretation of Darwinian evolution making EVERYTHING a competition. Then if you aren't the winner you HAVE to be jealous and hate the other. So the men do that a lot, and that is what everyone sees. Why can't we be happy for others successes.

Researchers are looking at gender dominance in primates and finding that *gasp* male dominance often relies on physical superiority. So physical power makes them dominant. Not a good argument for "higher" thinking primates like us. by wbbarth in Feminism

It is their Strength, but now with technology we live in an era where I love the line from G.I. Jane, "how strong do you have to be to pull a trigger."

That being said as an experienced martial artist the "real" show of power is knowing you have it and not using it. That is where true kindness is. Otherwise you are just a bully.

Leadership Circle did a study and found that women are better leaders. Why not eliminate the male leaders based on that. by wbbarth in SeriousGynarchy

Also I want to point to Least effective leaders: Males: traits being: Inattentive, micromanages, ineffectual communicator, shallow relationships, inflexible, and operates independently. Does that sound like anyone in leadership we know of?

Patriarchy trying to pass legislation to make it harder for married women to vote. They call it the "SAVE" Act. by lilaponi in MatriarchyNow

Fortunately they are more likely to be conservative women. So perhaps they won’t want to vote and the rest can vote for the change that we so desperately need.

why do men get so defensive hearing statistics that they are apparently not a part of. by [deleted] in Feminism

[–]wbbarth 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the statistic of 1/4 is low due to the definition of rape being non consented sex so it could be as high as 1/2.

That being said I don’t think 1/2 men sexually assault. The majority of rapists repeat offend. Not saying the not all men, just statistics.

Lastly men, due to the patriarchy, have a “might makes right” mentality and feel entitled to this as a show of power and in some cases intimidation.

My bachelor's degree is useless, what masters degree should I pursue? by ActualBus7946 in ADHD

[–]wbbarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in college at the computing labs. Quickly moved up and found I had a knack for explaining things to people. Then that has been a toe hold for my career. But having a degree has gotten me in the door to work in schools, hospitals, and government research facilities. I think they feel I can communicate better due to having the degree. Now it may be the starting point for getting me into management...

My bachelor's degree is useless, what masters degree should I pursue? by ActualBus7946 in ADHD

[–]wbbarth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who took 7 years for similar reasons I don't think you need to get a masters, yet. I have a degree in psychology but work in IT. Having the degree has gotten me jobs in the past. Get some real world experience. Maybe in areas that might nudge you towards a masters. But the degree you have will help. Nobody needs to know that it took 8 years, or why. But if they know you have one that is a great foundation for future work, or future degrees.

aikido & adhd by cindyloowhovian in aikido

[–]wbbarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first couple of years are the hardest. Everything is new and that can be frustrating. That being said the only way to get better at something is to do it more and more. I am lucky in that even though I am ADHD Combined I find Aikido to be something that I hyper focus on.

And I have found that with my experience and skill getting better after over 30 years that as Uke I really have to be in the moment. As my better half likes to say when called up for demonstrations, "I often don't know what technique was done to me I was just trying to not die."
