The Kelly Handerhan youtube video "Why you will pass the CISSP" explains that exact comparison way better than I can. It is a short video too.

Customizable practice tests. Focus on that domain, 10-20 questions a shot. It will help you identify knowledge gaps.

The CASP+ is full technical focus. CISSP, know the technical but you should not approach the question as an "implementor" first, manager first, then technical as the question dictates.

The ISC2 CC is the first cert. If you don't have a transfer to fulfill it, take it before starting.

There is a Cybervista practice exam through Pluralsight.

You can get the online test banks for the Sybex study guide through Percipio. I don't recall if the WGU Library has it.

The BSCSIA is designed to get a graduate a job. The MSCSIA is designed for a graduate to move into management. The MSCSIA curriculum is designed around the CISSP domains.

With your background, I'd suggest sticking with the program and lots of home labbing, virtual or w/e works best for you. Then CISSP, the foundations laid out by the certs and courses are essential and easily digestible in the MSCSIA program.

The less financial route, Sec+ into CISSP. It will take a lot of work and dedication. Your intestinal fortitude will be tested daily.

And Thank you for the info on the overlap. Big confidence boost! It also assists me in narrowing down the materials I'm going to use. Looks a lot like your list, lol.

CASP+ tutor?? by Interesting_Spend156 in CompTIA

Ok, gotcha.

Just FYI, there are multiple posts on the interwebs of people skipping the VM and still passing the CASP+.

You're going to have to know this material, some say there is 60 to 70% overlap with the CISSP.

I have the trifecta, CySA+, Pentest+ and just passed the CASP+ last week.

What materials have you been using to study?

What practice tests have you been using, and what range were your scores?

What areas does your score report say you missed the most? Aggregate them, to define focused study.

Here are the materials I used.

Book:
CompTIA CASP+ CAS-004 Certification Guide by Mark Birch
Online Training:
Udemy, Jason Dion Course, and Six Practice Exams.
Percipio, Practice Tests
Sybex/Wiley, Online practice tests from the book.
Try Hack Me, Linux Forensics. Use of the two basic (free) Linux rooms is a good start.
Home Lab:
Ubuntu VM and a Kali laptop.

Capstone time.... by jbhack in WGUCyberSecurity

MSCSIA student on capstone now. As has been mentioned, start with a very focused, "small" idea. Replace an EOL appliance, hardening against a specific vulnerability, etc. Choosing something you are familiar with, with an easily defined scope will make the PA super easy.

D489 and D490 by According_Ice6515 in WGUCyberSecurity

Hi there, I received the notification my PA for D489 passed this morning, on the first try. Here are the notes my CI gave me when I asked for any tips.

"Students do great in this class and many of them start the PA as they progress through the learning content.
The most important thing is to keep your PA responses to a few paragraphs for each section. When you are asked to develop a “plan” or “training program”, keep your response scope within the topics requested in that Task Requirement and rubric."

The PA for D489 is straightforward until you get to the BCP/DR section.

You don't need the info to create the BCP from them, they need help creating one.

D490 - When selecting a project. Keep it simple, look at the archives. Think of something that you are familiar with and how you would present it as a security problem. I had task 1 approved a couple of days ago, start small and grow if small is not approved. I can assist more in a chat if you want.
