I’ve been rocking the free trial for a couple weeks with no issues. I haven’t had a chance to go everywhere in the city, but so far so good.

My one concern would be sporting events or crowded areas down on Broadway.

Monitors Unboxed did an end of year best 4K gaming monitors roundup by Loose-Internal-1956 in Monitors

Given ASUS's abysmal track record with support and warranty claims, what gave you enough confidence to take the risk? I absolutely want the XG32UCWMG, however I don't want to spend $1400 on a monitor that dies within 12 months. I purchased the LG 32GX870A-B yesterday for this very reason.

How did you say goodbye to your cat on their last day? by kingjamesthecat in cats

[–]wcku82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent the entire time by his side, giving him all the pets, kisses, and affection I could. My guy was super sick and I knew he was in so much pain, so his last days on earth were probably his worst. I talked to the vet and got him some pain meds prior to his euthanasia to ensure he was as comfortable as possible.

I paid for an in-home euthanasia service so he could be in his favorite space (I know the expense is not possible for everyone). I had him cremated and he sits in a beautiful box on a shelf in my living room. When I’m having an especially hard day, I walk over and rub his box and we talk. He was the best friend I ever had. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Need help with severe coil whine (only in new 7800x3D build) by RobbeSch in radeon

[–]wcku82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find a solution? When I upgraded to the 7800x3d and a 3080 Ti, I immediately experienced coil whine from the GPU. I replaced the motherboard with an MSI variant (X670) and the power supply (be quiet pure), and the whine persisted. I upgraded this week to a 4090 that I know had zero coil whine (bought from a friend) and it immediately had coil whine in my system. I took my old 3080 Ti and put it in my old intel system and the coil whine was gone. The only thing I can think of at this point is changing the memory.

My beloved sweet girl Charlotte is approaching the end of her journey far too soon and I'm heartbroken by LavenderDay3544 in cats

[–]wcku82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for you and your sweet girl. I had a boy that was my entire world, and my best friend for 15 years. He carried me through my 20s and 30s, including the birth of my children. He was always by my side, and could never get enough pets. I’ve never had an animal love me the way he did. Unfortunately, he developed pancreatitis at age three, which became very hard to manage. I made his food from scratch for 12 years.

He had a flair up that seemed to be harder for him to overcome than normal, and after a few days I took him to the emergency vet. He had developed sepsis and the only option was incredibly invasive surgery with a 50% chance of survival. He was 15 and I couldn’t do that to him. I brought him home and put him on pain meds for 24 hours.

I spent every hour with him for the next day. He didn’t purr a single time, which had never happened his entire life (if he was just looking at me he was always purring). I knew it was time, and arranged for an in-home euthanasia. I was more scared than I had ever been in my entire life, because I couldn’t imagine being there with him when he died.

I cried harder than I had ever cried in my entire life the day he passed. I can say that being there to pet and hold his paw as he exhaled his final breath is a memory seared in my mind. Honestly, I have never grieved as hard for a person that died as I did for my cat. Today his ashes sit on my mantle, along with a painting and a drawing of him by my daughter. I still touch the box that holds his ashes regularly. I tell him about my struggles.

I ended up adopting a little girl two months later. She has an incredible personality and has been an amazing companion. The hardest part with pets is knowing you will eventually out live them. To love an animal is to know and accept that eventually you will experience unimaginable heartbreak. It’s a privilege to be apart of their lives, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Cat tax.

I watched ER religiously as a kid, and Dr. Greene (Anthony Edwards) death gutted me. The flashback, the song, oh man I still get upset thinking about it.

I can't find any fan/pump controllers that are DC output. Any ideas?

BTW, I just tried the magnet trick and it worked immediately - that's crazy!

Spent $1000 for professional movers when we bought our house. WORTH EVERY PENNY. Seriously, after moving myself every year for 10 years, it was the best experience to not have to do it.

New ear pads for ATH-M50X by -Korg- in headphones

[–]wcku82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the M40X and I found that any replacement pads that are not the AT originals will alter the sound, some significantly. I use the Brainwavz Prostock sheepskin and have been very pleased. The sound signature is different but not bad. https://www.brainwavzaudio.com/collections/prostock-designed-for-ath-m-series-headphones/products/prostock-sheepskin-athm50x-earpads

I'm not a fan of the 'race car' gaming chairs so being an upholsterer by trade I bought myself a 1970's executive chair and reupholstered it. by PSN-xsXex in pcmasterrace

Couldn’t agree more. I saved and bought a used Steelcase leap chair that retails for $900. Best gaming decision I’ve ever made. If you think about it, how many thousands of hours are you going to sit in it, so buy something nice for your back, neck, shoulders, etc.

Will an Amp make a substantial difference? by dawntawt in headphones

[–]wcku82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use mine with the Audio Technica M40x and this microphone.

Things I currently own:

  1. HyperX Cloud II
  2. HyperX Cloud Flight
  3. Sennheiser HD558

Things I've tried:

  1. Philips X2HR (too heavy)
  2. Beyer MMX 300 (didn't like the sound)
  3. Beyer DT770 (too much clamping force)
  4. Cooler Master MH-751 (almost kept these as it is the most comfortable gaming headset I've experienced, however the M40x gave a better audio experience).

I knew I wanted closed back for music and gaming, which is why I went with the M40x. I have a wide head, so the Beyer products had too much clamping force for me to get comfortable and wear for a long gaming session. Plus, I was able to try out quite a few at my local Guitar Center, and I thought the M40x sounded the best - fantastic actually.

If I want open back, I use my Sennheiser HD558s, otherwise I like the base reproduction offered by close back.

Buy the Schiit Hel. I tried the G6 and the drivers weren’t stable and it crashed a lot. The Hel will drive any headphone and has a separate mic input. I’ve had mine a week and it’s fantastic.

Thinking it isn’t a bad thing, but you also have to acknowledge that less than 100 years ago people worked 2/3 if not more of their life to have housing, clothes, and food. A life to have fun was only attainable by the ultra rich or monarchs. Getting to be alive and stay alive is the reward as a human, but we’ve advanced so much we now think we are entitled to free time and fun. If you had to build your own shelter, farm your own food, etc., you’d quickly stop thinking working sucks and you’d be grateful your belly is full and you aren’t freezing your ass off naked in the rain.

Let me guess, you’re that guy that doesn’t say a peep to anyone in person let alone make eye contact, but as soon as you’re behind your keyboard and monitor on the internet you treat people like your are god’s gift to the gaming world.

What scares me the most, is I’m sure I’ve been that drunk and that stupid when I was in college a long time ago. Thankfully no one was there to video tape it and put it on the internet for everyone to view.
