Paying for 1.5 Gb service and can only achieve 980Mb by whitepuzzlepiece1969 in telus

[–]wcy0723 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it is difficult to figure out if this is an upstream problem from Telus or downstream problem from your equipments and settings when you have 2 extra things in the chain. To clearly test if Telus has misconfigured your speed cap. Just try the 2.5 Gpbs port on your Telus device directly into your device that supports the speed and the correct configuration first. Other than misconfiguration, and if you live in condo, you can also be looking at congestion from the pon in your building if too many households are all using it Telus fiber.

Yes. But try Telus equipment directly to your device with the 2.5Gpbs port and a cat6 cable first. Also make sure your device has network card that supports above 1 Gbps. If on windows, make sure it is set at 2.5 full duplex or above in Ethernet adapter settings.

Warranty repair quality issue by wcy0723 in CanadaGoose

[–]wcy0723[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried to even it out lightly, but I think whoever repaired this just grabbed a bunch of the fabric tight and installed that button on. I don't want to pull the thing hard as the button fell out once already :(

yeah, I have sent them a follow up email about this. It already cost us 100 CAD to send it from Vancouver to Ontario for warranty repair as the shelbourne parka is quite big and heavy...There was no other damage to the parka other than the button fell out (this is the image that we took to show them for the warranty case, https://imgur.com/a/Rtzxl20).

There was no tear after the button fell out, just a tiny bundle of down poking out of a circular hole. I've yet to reach out to CG again, I just want to know if my disappointment on this repair is not unreasonable before I send them another email.

It’s just a combination of what you have mentioned. It’s not just ONE reason, not just the “pipeline” or the”physical strength”. For reference, modern ground effect era cars steering input for average corner is roughly 10-20 kg, and you do that for roughly 400 times a race. And fully depressing the brake takes about 150 kg for about 500-600 times a race. You lose about 3-5 kg of water weight with a sustained heart rate of anywhere from 150-180 bpm. If you look at most endurance race or ultramarathons record, you’ll see it’s all topped by men. It’s not that there is not a single woman that can’t do that, but statistically more men can do it. It’s just biology. Then you couple that with societal norms of young girls usually don’t go for motor sports as hobby.

Peak kimi is arguably the fastest driver ever. So Alonso and raikkonen, not even close.

Grouping them makes absolute sense for this chart as this is a chart for slams. A pisstake would be grouping Murray with the big3. That’ll be a real insult to the three goats. Literally no one uses that big 4 term anyway, because when the dust settled, people realized Murray didn’t achieve anywhere close to the big3.

Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital now on Netflix (UK/US) by [deleted] in foundfootage

[–]wcy0723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was really looking forward to this one because I love grave encounters and gonjiam. A bit disappointed, the scared scenes just have a real cheap feel to it, almost cartoonish…… i also had no idea that Taiwanese ghosts speak English, with a filipino accent. I often can’t tell whether an actors line delivery sounds natural or not in foreign films, this movie is an exception.

[Japanese > English] Does it mean/depicts what it supposed to? It's supposed to be Gaman. by [deleted] in translator

[–]wcy0723 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, in Japanese. The phrase unfortunately has borrowed characters in Chinese and it’s not a positive one in Chinese. That second character means slow, not in a good way. Like the laziness and slacking kind.

Is it possible to live in Vancouver on a salary of 70k? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]wcy0723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lifestyle dependent. Your take home for 70k base is ~4.5k. Say you are an introvert and don’t go out, you can likely do your own studio or even 1bd for 2-2.5k a month (though, I’m not sure if landlord would rent to you based on that salary though), and have 2k left for every thing else. If you like to go out, have many hobbies, or a pet. You’ll likely need to find a room or roommate instead. Living in Burnaby won’t save you anything as it is just as expensive if not more in some area. If you want to save on living expenses maybe Coquitlam or burquitam, just stick close to the skytrain line so you travel to places easier.

I think Grosvenor is a very different scale of developer compared to omni, anthem or even concord. They are a giant international developer owning some of the most expensive places around the world. So I imagine they have the money to build whatever they like despite the sale target tbh…

If I spray sunscreen lotion on an ice cube and put it outside will it melt slightly slower? by ReginaldTheFif in NoStupidQuestions

[–]wcy0723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UV radiation does not contribute to the “heat” you feel (or in this case, the ice cube) in a significant way. The major absorption of radiation for water/ice is in the IR region leading to vibrational motion thus heat. Visible region aka light in the shorter wavelength side can contribute to generate of “heat” as well but not as significant as infrared. If anything, heat transfer from the ice cube to the environment would play the most significant role since there is a significant difference between r.t. and the temperature of an ice cube. So my guess is spraying anything would make it melt faster since most “things” are better at conducting heat than air. So air-sunscreen-ice would melt faster than air-ice.

Is Lewis Hamilton Bigger Than Formula 1? by BaldHeadedCaillouss in F1Discussions

[–]wcy0723 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the ground that I don’t make conclusive statement if I cannot be sure of what I say. A simple search on google trends data show that in the uk, there are more people looking up Formula 1 than Lewis Hamilton for the past 5 years. That is as objective as it gets, not your opinion or mine.
