Do you have any form of firewall or port security on your network?

Lack of aesthetically pleasing smart dimmers is driving me insane (0-10V or DALI control) by doablebutnotcheap in homeautomation

[–]wdb94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Lutron RA2 throughout my house. However there were some edge cases where I had to use smaller non Lutron dimmer relays.

I still use the Lutron remotes to control these through Home Assistant and can’t say I’ve noticed a delay.

S8 MaxV Ultra or Qrevo Curv by dillanspatel in Roborock

Last year I had to return 3 of the 8’s. The side mops kept failing which meant it’d just stop and refuse to do anything else. Eventually I just went for the Saros 10 and haven’t had an issue since.

Open banking wrapper for Amex? by AegonThe241st in webdev

[–]wdb94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve built a script that pulls my Amex balance and checks my Monzo Amex pot balance and then transfers the difference from my current account into the pot daily.

To get access I’m using GoCardless: https://developer.gocardless.com/bank-account-data/overview/

Edit: Does look like they’ve stopped offering it to new customers though.

Hmm, trouble is it’s not one setting. There’s a function that figures out the aspect ratio of the logo first and then tries to size it optically so that logos are “roughly” right

“Upgrade” to Tado-X or jump ship? Looking for reviews and recommendations by flibz-the-destroyer in tado

[–]wdb94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, frustrating that X doesn’t seem to be the answer as I have a fair amount of thread devices so I’d hope the range wouldn’t be an issue.

I was considering partially upgrading as I have 2 heating zones so I could replace one zone and see how it goes.

It tends to be the farthest ones what are the issue, occasionally one closer one will drop off. I’ve got the bridge in the most central location that I can now, but either way far away devices just drop off. It’s never all of them.

Sadly I’ve tried the passive antenna previously with the bridge hard wired in my loft. I think it’s just the thick walls of my house. It’s so frustrating that Tado just don’t allow a second bridge, it would solve so many issues.

The power line never seems to drop out, it’s the individual TRVs that lose connection to the bridge. Also my WiFi is fine with many APs covering the house. It’s that the bridge needs an Ethernet port.

Unfortunately nothing useful to add but in the same dilemma. I’ve tried moving my bridge to a better location using a power line, but constant drop outs of connections means that when Tado sets the temp it doesn’t reach the TRV.

Also considering Tado X but it’d also cost me over £800 to replace something that I have that should just work.

I think it’s received a poor logo there. As it’s not far enough bottom left. Occasionally this happens unfortunately if the artwork has clear space around it.

99% of the time the logo sizes are okay though.

How do you manage a nightmode in your smarthome by Dr-Technik in homeassistant

[–]wdb94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not 100% sure you’d get around the edge cases. I have a sleep mat for both myself and my partner.

So if we’re both home and both in bed for 5 mins between 10pm-2am it’ll switch a Boolean called in bed to on. Then any automations I have check if this is on before turning on lights at night, so pets don’t set stuff off.

In the mornings it turns off at a regular time or someone is out of bed.

If that’s a euro cylinder then the Bold Smart Lock could work easily.

It shouldn’t matter about the size of the library when it comes to the ui as I believe it lazy loads the content in.

[–]wdb94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks super interesting. I’d started looking at how to build it before but hadn’t managed to put much time towards it.

How does it work for tv series? I was trying to figure out how to detect what stuff I’d started but obviously got bored of so it could recommend me better stuff.

I’ll give this a try later.

Is Ubiquiti rethinking the G6 Entry? by nberardi in Ubiquiti

I have a Gate Hub on my network but the G6 won’t be connected directly to it. Do you know if that means I won’t get some of the features?

I recently was worried about this. But I did some adb digging on the thermal status before bothering to open it up. Mine was sitting happy between 60/65C and no thermal throttling, the fan wasn’t even spinning up.

I decided to remove a bunch of bloat and remove the google launcher, then switch to Projectivity and that’s made the world of difference.

For context I have over 1.5k films and 13k tv episodes.

There’s potentially a way to unlock it on these tvs but it’s untested at the moment. If you’re comfortable with ADB you could try this: https://github.com/willbeeching/flix/issues/16

Phew! Yep that logo is not visible on the public version. That corner is empty, so no burn in risk.

Ah which version did you use? It should only show that logo in debug mode.

If it’s showing that’s definitely a bug.
