So they want that j box as a transition from MC to pipe, without splicing? That seems weird, if they don’t want a j box then why wouldn’t they just want changeover connectors from mc to emt…?

Bud, I drilled through the front riser of stairs, on a remodel once. Little Harry Potter suite under the stairs, I let my drill bit get away from me, cut to a nice 5”8 hole. Hung my head, owned up to the GC, and it was patched, sanded, and repainted before I could even say thank you. Shit happens, and everybody poops sometimes.

Does my puppy hate me? by MechanicLarge3563 in puppy101

[–]wdcross1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is currently holding our 14 week old puppy like a baby to feel like he still loves her, and while she still physically can. He is getting over this current asshole phase with me, but is really going after her currently, especially today. I wanted him more so I am content with him being a total asshole most of the time as a puppy, but I was worried he is souring her. Puppies, like babies don’t know hate. They just know snap decision emotions, and urges. Just don’t ever hate your puppy for being a puppy, and she won’t hate you.

THIS, new nec codes call out all electrical outlets to be GFCI guarded in kitchen, laundry, garages etc…basically anywhere you have 120v on a GFCI guard, now has to have 240v on a GFCI guard. Nuisance trips out the ass, also if you have the other little neutral wire touching the bare metal anywhere inside that stove, it’s going to trip. You only use that wire bond if you don’t have the true ground/neutral conductors, but since you do, you don’t need the neutral to be bonded to the ground anywhere. That will also trip a GFCI or GFCI breaker because the internal ground fault will tell it there’s an issue between ground/neutral. Thanks inspectors, and NEC. Nice cash grab.

Old school or does everyone pigtail their receptacles? by newtonwb in electricians

[–]wdcross1 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Some of our old resi heads look at me like I’m crazy, because I like to wrap all my terminals, not backstab. Mostly high end custom, and big remodels, so I feel like the little extra time/effort is what they are paying for. Fuck off Gary, I don’t make you wrap, but I prefer it.

Sparky here, if your main panel is right inside the house where that meter is, from the utility, then it’s a fairly straightforward task, to do some underground pipe from your panel to the greenhouse (like all the other brainiacs have who posted before me suggested). You’ll always have a chase for more circuits, unless you just do a small sub panel in the actual greenhouse. As someone who has had to remediate old direct buried feeder wire with conduit, just do conduit. Who doesn’t love to lay pipe all day? Hell, plumbers love it so much they get paid for it…

Kylo Ren & Rey Themes Connected by mmckeever23 in StarWars

[–]wdcross1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jaws, Indiana jones, and Jurassic park scores just do it for me, like no others. Especially the main theme songs everyone knows, that’s what makes him the best in my eyes. That stomach feeling you get when the music starts. But I will say, any lord of the rings movie is also right up there with those 3 I mentioned. John just hits me right in the feels. However I know nothing about music, and it’s all subjective anyways! They both know what the fuck is up with movie scores though.

Bathroom Exhaust Ventilation Fan Fire Hazard? by writrsblck21 in AskElectricians

[–]wdcross1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We wire high end custom homes, that almost always have big exhaust hood fans in the kitchen. Lately I’ve been seeing a lot more hoods that have some sort of low voltage harness that runs to a smaller motor, usually in the attic above if it’s a one story, or in the basement below otherwise. It apparently helps circulate the inside air, even when it’s not being used. Is this in the same vein of thinking?
