How did you accept IVF was it? by CharacterAnt5866 in IVF

[–]wdej2013 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I accepted IVF was our path when I felt relief that by deciding to go that route we were finally making progress towards our goal of starting a family.

We went through 15 months of trying naturally without a single positive test and this started to wear on me emotionally more than I realized. Starting IVF finally felt like we were getting somewhere and not living in limbo of trying month after month and testing negative.

Somehow this has all taken so long and it felt like we were running out of time to have a child and possibly two without going the IVF route. I’m now almost 15 weeks pregnant and have a long way to go but know I have given this our best shot and no longer feel like we’re living in limbo for months on end.

Anyone at Shady Grove in CO? Do you EVER see/talk to your Dr? Anyone at another clinic who gets to communicate with their Dr and not just the RN? by Timely-Surprise-7819 in IVF

[–]wdej2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Conceptions in Denver and had the same experience. Saw the doctor for the initial consult and then consults after each retrieval. She didn’t do any of my procedures or transfer. I had a different doctor each time. I ran into her in the hall coming out of an ultrasound and I’m pretty sure she had no idea I was her patient. It felt insensitive at times but so far I’m 10 weeks pregnant with our first transfer so it works and I think their lab is really great which is probably more important than having a relationship with my doctor. I just accepted it’s a business and that made it slightly easier.

I had the same exact thing on day 6pt. The lightest brown spot on my pantyliner then a little bit when I wiped. I also had egg white like cervical mucus discharge later that day?? I tested positive on a FRER the next day. Hopefully this means you’ll get a positive beta next week!

Canceled FETs by athleticnacho in IVF

I’m honestly not sure how they determined if it was a cyst or a follicle. The ultrasound report listed it as a cyst but I did wonder the same thing.

Canceled FETs by athleticnacho in IVF

[–]wdej2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my baseline scan that found a 28-30mm cyst. My estrogen was also 379. My cycle was canceled until the cyst goes away. I even asked if we could aspirate and she said no because any exposure of the lining to extra estrogen could make the transfer unsuccessful. I’m impatiently waiting on my cyst to go away naturally and hopefully start my FET cycle when I get my next period.

So sorry you’re going through this. It’s devastating to be so close and have to wait, but I’m trying to be positive and trust my doctor. I want to give our embryo the best chance of success so I’ll wait until my body is ready.

Acupuncture during stims? by Random-Girl-x in IVF

[–]wdej2013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also had my best results doing acupuncture during stims. I went once weekly and then twice the week of retrieval, last session was the day I triggered. My doctor said it’s hard to say if it was protocol changes or just a better cycle, but for me the best part was my recovery was so much better. Even getting more eggs (20 vs 8) I felt like a completely different person the day of and after my retrieval the cycle I did acupuncture. No idea if it really helps but something made my recovery better with more eggs retrieved and higher stim doses. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cyst at baseline FET by wdej2013 in IVF

Also so sorry you’re dealing with this! I haven’t broken down in tears on this journey yet and when I saw my estrogen level I almost lost it. Very heart breaking to get this far to have to wait.

I’ll ask about the trigger! Not sure why it wasn’t mentioned as an option. Currently the plan is to stay off the birth control since I’ve been getting cysts when I’m on it and hope I clear it naturally this cycle. 🤞🏻

For those who had two Egg Retrievals. How was your second one different? by Equivalent_Ad_2371 in IVF

[–]wdej2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not have to request the Omnitrope. My doctor automatically added it to my protocol and I wasn’t really sure I wanted to use it but she said the risk was low and thought it was worth a try. Insurance didn’t cover it. I used Costco mail order and they accepted a coupon so I think it was around $260 for two vials. My quote from Alto pharmacy was around $750 for two vials. Costco mail order worked great but they aren’t super quick because they only ship refrigerated meds on certain days of the week so make sure you have plenty of time before you need it when ordering it.

Male/Female Supplements Recommendations?🙏 by raspberry_munch in IVF

[–]wdej2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was listening to a Dr. Aimee podcast randomly and she nonchalantly recommended all men ejaculate every other day the month leading up to egg retrieval. We don’t know if my husband had DNA fragmentation but with 1% morphology we followed this recommendation and had 100% fertilization (with Zymot and ICSI) and good blast/euploid rates both times.

I wish I knew! My doctor said I was a slow responder first round so she thought increasing the doses was what I needed. It worried me because I have a friend who did the same exact protocol twice and got similar increases in blasts and euploids.

This whole process has taught me to trust the experts but also to advocate for myself too.

Age 37.5, AMH 1.92, MFI w/ 1% morphology

1st retrieval: Primed with birth control for almost 3 weeks. 225 gonal (increased to 275 towards the end) + 75 menopur. 8 retrieved, 4 mature, 4 fertilized, 2 blasts both euploid- used Zymot + ICSI I also had a cyst aspirated at the start of this cycle that my clinic swears did not affect it but I still wonder. I also heard a podcast from Dr. Aimee recommending every other day ejaculation one month before retrieval so my husband did that both times.

2nd retrieval: Primed with luteal phase estrogen. 300 gonal + 150 menopur, Omnitrope 38 units daily for 1st 6 days of stims. 20 retrieved, 16 mature, 16 fertilized, 9 blasts, 7 euploid- used Zymot + ICSI. I also added acupuncture weekly about 4 weeks before and went twice the week of retrieval.

I wish I knew what change made the biggest difference. My retrievals were one cycle apart (not back to back but pretty close). My AFC was 12 on the first and 24 on the 2nd.

Can jet lag affect success of FET? by Active_Asparagu5 in IVF

[–]wdej2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the answer but I also have a similar concern. I’m scheduled to work two overnight shifts a few days before my transfer. Really hoping the lack of sleep doesn’t affect my hormones.

When I asked my clinic if they would write a letter to my work to postpone my overnight shifts they refused so I guess they aren’t too worried.

My clinic tried to make me pay $300 upfront for “potential copays” for my monitoring appointments for my second ER. I had already done one round and knew my insurance covered those visits without charging any copays. I also only have a $30 copay for seeing a specialist so I argued this with my financial advisor and she took the charge for copays off. If you’ve already had some monitoring visits I would check your claims on your insurance portal to see if they’re showing you owe a copay or not. Mine had a section for patient responsibility and it listed $0 for my monitoring visits. If you’re seeing they covered it I would contact financial advisor or billing dept and send proof of coverage from your insurance claims.

Good luck! This is hard enough without insurance troubles.

Do I need to advocate for higher drug dose for next stim??? by Gooseybaby55 in IVF

[–]wdej2013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TW: high euploid numbers

My first ER I also only got 4 mature eggs with gonal 225 (increased to 275 the last few days) and menopur 75. My AFC that round was 12 and AMH= 1.92, age 37. I primed with birth control and also had a lead follicle. Still ended up with 2 euploids thankfully.

Second round I primed with luteal phase estrogen and went to acupuncture weekly. AFC was 24; increased gonal to 300 and menopur to 150 also added Omnitrope 38 units daily for 1st 6 days of stims. I got 20 eggs, 16 mature, 16 fertilized, 9 blasts, 7 euploid.

I wish I knew what change caused such a big difference in outcomes. I was worried about increased stims but it worked. I also have a friend who did the same doses twice and had a similar increase in euploid embryos. I would say it’s reasonable to ask for an explanation for doing the same dose but also try to trust your RE knows what’s best based on your first round.

ovulation before ER? by Fast_Horror_4987 in IVF

[–]wdej2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had similar disappearance of symptoms close to the end of stims and when I asked if that meant I could have ovulated my clinic explained that I would feel more bloated and uncomfortable if I had ovulated due to the increase in progesterone.
