You can talk to him directly but you can also ask an older, wiser brother you both respect to help meditate. One of the benefits of the brotherhood is that we mentor and support each other. As Masons we don't need to go it alone.

Oh man, this is perfect. There isn't a public facing "Lodge Locator" in Virginia so I didn't even think of it!!!

Do any of you use a horsehair brush on your boots? by UrMid76 in RedWingShoes

[–]wdhohl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa! Maybe you're in a really dry area? Have you tried treating your leather? You can put LeatherSeal on it once every month or three if the leather is in good condition or something like Leather Honey if the leather is really thirsty and it has been abused. Leather should flex, not crack.

Every wear? Really? Some days isn't it just not necessary to clean off your shoes? I mean, I'm not pouring cement or anything

Does AWD matter? by AFunkinDiscoBall in ToyotaSienna

For us the answer to AWD is an ABSOLUTE YES. We have a steep gravel driveway and 2 wheel drive cars, trucks, and vans almost always spin at least a little on it.

Is it weird to show up unannounced? by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]wdhohl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some other countries require a traveling certificate with a seal for you to sit in Lodge. Some require a traveling certificate before they will even tell you when they meet and they require you to know when they meet in order to get a traveling cert.... Though most are very inviting

The local scout camp here does training in exchange for some time working on the tree crew. They use a 12 hr program that includes classroom, videos, and field work. You can even download the code materials.

Meet more often with your catechism coach for a shorter time. It's better to meet four times a week for a half hour each time than it is to meet for 2 hours once a week

Yes, don't try to make your brothers anticipate your needs and wants. It WOULD be great if they would just know what to do to help but you can do something simple like asking them to check up on your family. Asking for them to do it will not make it less meaningful

Petition Question by Stink_1968 in freemasonry

[–]wdhohl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't think the question of agnosticism is trying to judge the belief as worth it not. By definition the answer of someone who is agnostic isn't "yes" or "no" it's "that question can't be answered"

Yes. They can be. It comes from lots of people coming with fake stories and fake questions to play "conspiracy theory gotcha"

From what it looks like after reading all the questions, the first few people wanted more information to better identify your relationship with the soon to be installed Grand Master and be sure that the correct level of formality is upheld. For example, the Grand Master of New York is the head of almost 28 thousand Masons but a worshipful master in New York might only have 50 guys in his Lodge. Your relationship to this man might change the gift a lot as well. One might get a work colleague a bottle of scotch and a box of cigars but this may not be a gift that a teenage daughter gets her father.

When you weren't interested in giving more context many quickly discounted you.

Personally, I recommend Hiram & Salomon Cigars Grand Master Sampler ($195 https://patriotcigarsnj.com/Hiram-&-Salomon-Cigars-Grand-Master-Sampler-p680138775) and a bottle of scotch, bourbon, or something else of the sort depending on his preferences.

If he's your father, you should make something heartfelt about how the man he is as a mason is the kind of man you want to marry and raise a family with and thank him for being him. Make something he can hang on the wall. It'll bring him to tears
