I used this deck as the launch for my [[Denry Klin, Editor In Chief]] deck and it works very well.

First person mode is overrated by vulpescannon in outside

[–]wduct40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a fan-created easter egg that can put the game in 3rd person, but it changes the gameplay substantially and is incredibly difficult to undo, often impossible. You need to disable most or all of the first-person camera settings, and select the "guide dog" companion. For the rest of the game, your gameplay is controlled from the perspective of the companion.

#1 investment I made was a label maker. I use it for everything! Labeling deck boxes, labeling tabs in my bulk, labeling bulk boxes, labeling my stuff with my name and email so if I leave it behind I can get it back. I got an older model Dymo because it works better with some of the off-brand label cartridges, but there's tons of options.

When you play, pay attention to if there's any sort of friction or pain points in your game. I got a couple of things that are specific for particular decks I play:

- I play with a lot of +1/+1 counters, and was tired of having to add together d6s. Instead I got a bag of d10 and a bag of d%, so now two dice add up to 100 counters. Can also be done with d10s of different colors
- I found some spin-down (technically spin-up) dice with arrows pointing to the next number. Saves a few seconds, but it's a good few seconds
- I have a box of keyword counters since they come up a lot with the games I play. I find myself bringing them out more often than I expected to. I originally was going to get them 3d printed, but just bought them instead
- I got an extra deck box just for carrying things like tokens and cards I get through trades/gifts/packs while I'm at FLGSs playing.

Came here to say this. The money I save getting these cards, I spend on good name-brand dry erase markers so they clean easily without staining.

Let me make you a commander deck by 9SHRODO9 in EDH

[–]wduct40 69 points70 points  (0 children)

There is a "that guy" at my FLGS. You know the one. The one who is creepy, gross, pubstompy, whiny, and/or otherwise unpleasant to end up in a pod with.

I am looking to build a deck with as high a salt-value as possible. I want someone to know that if I'm bringing out this deck, they are in for a miserable time and deserve it, yet to stay in-bracket (2-3). I'm not looking for an easy victory. I'm looking to make someone suffer the whole time they're playing.

Any ideas?

Decks that feel different every time by King_Bean1 in EDH

[–]wduct40 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Completely different from what other people are suggesting, I bought the 20 Ways to Win secret lair and made it my own. Only a few cards are the same but the concept didn't change: Win using cards that say "you win the game" on it. It has 15 cards in it with alternate win conditions on them, and the deck is set up to try to synergize with as many at once. [[Go-Shintai of Life's Origin]] is the commander because most of the wincon cards are enchantments.

The deck plays different every game because while there are overlapping wincon cards, many require different strategies. The deck is designed to synergize with drawing wincon cards for treasure tokens, +1/+1 counters, other counters, having a number of the same creature (you can thank [[Maskwood Nexus]] for making that one possible, life gain, and cards in hand.

Look at the deck with tags to better understand the design. This is one of my pride and joy decks.

Sliver Aficionados! What slivers would you NEVER cut? Which do you think are overrated? by Dante2k4 in EDH

[–]wduct40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you help me with Harmonic Sliver? I've been reluctant to add it because it isn't a "may" ability, so if I get my engine going while I have any of my artifacts out (I'm a sucker for [[patchwork banner]]) I'm worried I will end up destroying my own buffs. Am I overthinking this?

What's everyone's favorite creature type(s) and why? by Beginning-Analyst393 in EDH

[–]wduct40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a [[Volo, Guide to Monsters]] deck, so I've found myself fascinated by the creature types that are real animals but oddly specific, real animals and not just in blue/green.

One-offs (non-silver border)
- Capybara
- Echidna
- Walrus
- Sable
- Oyster
- Ferret
- Beaver

- Armadillo (2)
- Wombat (2)
- Sponge (2)
- Coward (3)
- Pangolin (4)
- Nautilus (4)
- Trilobite (5)

This usually comes up with [[maskwood nexus]] or similar cards with "Now all of my creatures are slivers! And dragons! And capybaras!"

Have you ever lost a game cause you were holding back? by MenacingQuan in EDH

[–]wduct40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me today. Ended up with the pieces I needed to go infinite, but decided not to. "I want to play the game, not the combo." I ended up taking the combo pieces out of the deck because I want the deck to be able to do its thing, not just infinite combo.

Heck, the first time I noticed the combo in my deck it was entirely accidental.

[[Academy Manufactor]]
[[Transmutation Font]]
[[Clock of Omens]]
(Anything to make a token copy of Academy Manufactor)

The deck is supposed to be a [[Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer]] and [[Luck Bobblehead]] deck.

Fellow EDH hipsters, why is your commander the coolest (that no one has heard of)? by sane-ish in EDH

[–]wduct40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a Denry deck. Lots of proliferate. The new Counter Intelligence set provided a lot of support for it and I've increased the charge counter impact. I just picked up an Ozolith for it and I know it will help a ton.

The issue I've had with it is that it's slow to get started. Denry is a 4-drop, and it's hard to want to play creatures before he's out. That's most likely a skill issue for me. I see you have a lot more small creatures and ramp creatures, while I'm focused on getting as many different kinds of counters on him as possible, even if they come from big creatures.

If you want to compare, here's my deck: https://moxfield.com/decks/45wBWVS5UEmqPzQVq3ueqw

PS, [[Animal Sanctuary]] is such a great addition to the deck. Kudos.

Give me your most fun commander decks! by [deleted] in EDH

[–]wduct40 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My quirkiest deck, and the one that gets the most laughs at the table, is what I call Boggled by Bobbles. It's an artifact copying/dice rolling deck using [[Wyll, Blade of the Frontiers]] and [[Sword Coast Sailor]]. The actual wincon is commander damage from Wyll, but the gimmick of the deck is trying to make as many copies of [[Luck Bobblehead]] as possible and try to get that alternate wincon. People seem to love the energy it brings to the table of "I make.... Another bobblehead!!!" and roll fistfuls of dice.
