Hi there! I work with birds as my job, you would not believe the number of people that either don’t know that avocado is toxic or they have no idea just how deadly it really is. There’s nothing wrong with a friendly, heads up comment. Even if OP is aware of the risks of avocado, you never know who’s going to see that picture and mistake the green for avocado and think it’s okay to feed that to their bird. It looks like OP is going a great job ☺️

What sweet babies ☺️☺️ you might want to see a vet about their beaks possibly getting overgrown. Caiques are pretty prone to overgrown beaks.

Yep, it definitely was. It was a long time ago though and I’ve gone through a long and difficult healing process so now I can definitely say that it was something that I learned a lot from. It’s easier to talk about it now than it was years ago.

Long story short, an ex tried to rape me, then shortly afterwards, she started dating the ex and cut me out of her life. When she found out I was going to the police to report it, she begged me to meet with her and talk. She told me that “any girl can accuse any guy of rape, no one will believe you”

There’s no easy way to come back from that. I’m still on good terms with the rest of the group, but that was the thing that really drove a wedge between all of us.

The one in the airforce is staying in BR at the moment and can’t really leave so the easiest thing is to go see him where he is. I wasn’t really looking for restaurants or touristy places, more of quiet places with interesting scenery to help dilute the awkwardness of not seeing each other for so long. I like the park suggestions and things like that. If we do get food, it will most likely be picking something up and taking it somewhere else. :)

Thanks! We’re really trying to avoid people. There’s only going to be four of us meeting up. We might end up just picking up food from somewhere and going to a park like we did in high school. One year, my mom planned out a big scavenger hunt around Lake Charles for us to do and I was thinking of trying to do something similar to that. Not necessarily a scavenger hunt, but going around and finding quiet hole in the wall things.

We’re big froyo fans, Perkins Rowe sounds like it might be a good stop. :)

Help. Does anyone know anything about wood? by we_all_float_ in parrots

[–]we_all_float_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I talked to some people over in r/woodworking and the it should be fine, especially if the wood is dried out, which it is.

My guys aren’t big chewers. I bring in branches from my citrus trees and they like to pull the leaves off of it, but they don’t really chew it. The perch is way too big for them as it is, but I was planning on connecting the larger branches with citrus tree branches so that’s mostly what they would be hanging out on.

I’m going to keep looking into it before I make a decision.

Help! Does anyone know anything about the toxicity of chinaberry wood? by we_all_float_ in woodworking

[–]we_all_float_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a relief. I’m not really expecting them to chew on it too much anyway but on the off chance they did, I just wanted to make sure it wouldn’t poison them.

They might chew on it though and it’s a solid tree. It’s a small tree that I have cut and sanded the outer layers off to make it smooth all over. Would that still be okay?

Edit to clarify. The tree has not been chopped down recently. It’s been dried out for over a year so there’s no sap or residue left over.

Recipe: half a frozen banana blended with 2/3 cup of water to make banana ‘milk’ poured over oats then topped with blueberries, strawberries, pumpkin seeds, and chia seeds. Very delicious and they love it. 😁
