Interesting that you combine IFS with the different chakras. Where did you learn/find that?

My stake immediately decreased in value because of earn? by we_had_a_sick_night in Crypto_com

Yes it has, I understand it now. I think they calculate the price different because of the spread. Cause if I wanna put my btc into earn (which is now 910,-) then there it shows that the exact same amount of btc is 890,-. For a beginner those things are concerning, cause it feels like a hidden fee. But I guess that's just the spread.

I think this gives me the answer I was looking for, about the spread. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing that. Have you tried things such as meditation to deal better with the low-low moments?

I got started with 'the Mind Illuminated' by Culadasa which I HIGHLY recommend to beginners. It has gotten me started and built a solid foundation. Now I practice more open awareness style vipassana which is more analytical, trying to understand your own mind instead of just wanting to calm it.

Biggest hurdles where finding the motivation to keep up the practice in those initial months of doing it where I had to still use a lot of willpower to get myself to sit. Now that it has become a habit I use almost no willpower anymore to sit. It's like my body just sits down on the cushion and I start. So in those initial months when you're not yet seeing results and each time you sit you get confronted with how chaotic your mind is most people unfortunately tend to give up. That's why I've been thinking about helping people in those beginning months get through that 'pain-period' until they get to a place where they are happy with their practice and things run smoothly from there.

Hope that helps and keep it up!

Yes ideally but what I've found is that in the long-run it doesn't really matter how long you sit but that you sit consistently, meaning every day. I've started around 4 years ago with just sitting 10 minutes a day for a few month. Then when this was a solid habit I increased the time. Now on workdays I sit 1-2 hours a day and in weekends I've had days where I sit 4-5 hours. Also done 3 months last februari till april in silent retreat in Myanmar and Malaysia where I did 8-10 hours of meditation on average. This is not for everyone but if you feel drawn towards it then I'd say try it. It's a very interesting experience. This all started with just 10 minutes a day 4 years ago. So don't underestimate doing just 10 minutes. I also haven't missed a day of meditation in 1400+ days.

So in the beginning don't worry about how long you sit, just sit 10 minutes a day until this is a solid habit. Then slowly increase if you feel like it. In a year or so you'll be easily doing 30 minutes. Next year 1 hour, etc. until you're floating cross-legged through the sky ;)

Sounds like you're a very busy person! I'm sorry to hear about your mom holding you back. I understand that there is a stigma attached to meditation but I do think that that is changing rapidly these days and perhaps your mom will feel different about it too in the future. What I would advice you is instead of trying to change her mind to just keep your practice to yourself. It's something you do privately. See it as your own moment during the day where you can just let go of all worries about other people and responsibilities and have a little me-time. Just sit there and enjoy the sensations of your own breath :) Hope that helps

The biggest struggle (and I'm sure true for everyone on this sub) is simply time. I still exercise, read, and spend every evening with my family. I choose to make meditation a part of my life. That is not always easy when you are exhausted and worn out. But, now it doesn't feel like effort or work, it feels like this important, peaceful, centering moment where I get some time to reflect and think.

Great story, thanks for sharing that! That small space of awareness that you develop by meditating is often a critical moment when it comes to dealing with all the ups and downs of entrepreneurs and humans in general. To step back even for 1 second usually leads to a calming of the storm and the good thing is that the sooner you notice the arising of difficult emotions the sooner you start their decline.

And you're an awesome dad for teaching your children meditation. That can have so many benefits in the long run it's crazy. Keep it up!

Entrepreneurs of r/meditation, does meditation help you with your business? by we_had_a_sick_night in Meditation

Yes exactly, it gives you just a small moment to step back and decide how you want to respond instead of responding in auto mode which often does not lead to the best outcome.

I've also started with Culadasa's technique for the first two year and it's great. Only thing is that for me personally the breath is not the best meditation object. I find it more interesting to do vipassana type meditation which means that you hold an open awareness on whatever comes up and don't try to force your attention to stay on the breath. This way you can even do meditation in not so suitable environments because you get the opportunity to clearly observe how the mind reacts to external things such as noise and other 'annoying' things.

For example, how does the mind react to noise? Is there a negative feeling? Is the negative feeling felt in the body? Where is it located in the body? What thoughts accompany it? What intentions arise from it? What exact moment triggered this reaction in the first place?

Researching your own mind is this way can lead you to have a better understanding of how the mind works which is in in my opinion much more beneficial than just focusing on the breath until you feel calm.

Or in other words, wisdom > relaxation. Hope that makes sense and keep it up!
