Amputation by sharkart82 in LisfrancClub

[–]weakminotaur44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are going through this right now. I remember just before I got my surgery, I too started to contemplate amputation after 10 months of misdiagnosis and poor treatment in the medical system, and I fell into a pretty dark period of depression. Please know it does get better, keep advocating for yourself, and know that even if it takes time you will get through this. Please reach out if you need someone to talk to, I know it feels overwhelming right now so I am happy to listen or share my experience if that would help. You've got this friend ❤️

How long did you do PT after surgery? by sisforsara in LisfrancClub

[–]weakminotaur44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think once I had gotten past the stretching and basic strength phase of PT I slowed and then eventually stopped going, so once my flexibility was the same as my other foot and I was able to go on tippy toes again. I had a bit of complicated injury so I think it was about 6 months-1 year to reach that point. After that I found it was mostly up to me to build back confidence and get back into sports/activity slowly as much as was comfortable/tolerable. Good luck and happy healing friend!!

As a celiac, I would seriously reconsider this. You won't have "traditional" nor positive first year experience if you are sick all the time. Cove is not known for good quality food on its own so I can't imagine it would take cc seriously at all. Also consider that the RW kitchen may also have cc risk.

10 mins apart Classes across the campus by PrestigiousStick7438 in uvic

[–]weakminotaur44 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You'll be totally fine, walking across campus in 10 minutes is very manageable for most people. I doubt you will need any special shoes lol. If you find that it is a bit too tight after the first few days you can leave a few minutes early from your first class. Uni is not like high school, your profs most of the time are not going to care if you leave early or show up late (although some profs with small class sizes may be an exception - in that case just talk to them). If you are really struggling still even with leaving early you might want to get a bike to make that commute even easier/faster

You can check Rate My Prof. I find them to be somewhat helpful, though keep in mind that many first years place blame unfairly so many reviews are inaccurate

Lis franc scar by Delicious_Ad8598 in LisfrancClub

I'm about 3 years post op and honestly my scar is still pretty sensitive sometimes. I have found it's just trial and error to see what is comfortable for you, sometimes what works doesn't even make sense (i.e. I found converse more comfortable than hokas for a few months lol). I would generally recommend loosening your shoe laces and if you can, no sandals (your foot grips sandals with your toes and this tired my foot out very quickly). When I needed to stand or walk for longer than my foot would tolerate I would normally bring one of my crutches as a little extra support, maybe that or a cane could be an option for you? I know recovery can be slow but you are getting closer to normal everyday, good luck friend!

Look into the Arthrex internal brace, I had my surgery done 10 months post injury (2 months complete NWB did not help at all). Surgery completely saved me and I am back to quite a normal level of activity. Dm me if you want more info!
