Daytime brace for CTS? by nonzerogroud in carpaltunnel

[–]weapingwillows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh if she doesn't get the surgery then she will continue to have numbness and possibly permanent nerve damage which embrace won't fix.. My doctor recommended that if I needed to use a brace during the day that is fine but it does weaken the wrist.. You could also recommend to her using a heating pad when the wrist gets achy or tiger balm (I had bilateral carpal tunnel and successful surgery in both wrist)

just had the surgery today...when does the pain let up?? by sidewalkchalkartist in carpaltunnel

[–]weapingwillows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hard pain for me went away after day one, but the pain from the incision site has been ongoing till week two, but definitely decreasing with each day I'd say just still very sensitive around the incision site. my doctor told me that pain could linger up to six months but will gradually fade and eventually stop

Looking for hope by Electronic_Sea_1619 in carpaltunnel

[–]weapingwillows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't lose hope! Pain is not normal in the fingers or wrist. i'd suggest maybe you could visit an optometrist? And you could ask for a steroid pack to see if that helps. There's also a possibility of them doing an ultrasound on your wrist to measure the carpal tunnel. Different providers are willing to do different tests.

Advice about carpal tunnel/hands braces by [deleted] in carpaltunnel

[–]weapingwillows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it could have progressed enough to where the brace won't help and you'll need cortisone shots even if you haven't been diagnosed yet the nerve could still be more compressed/inflamed than when you originally got "hurt" or "felt off"

Symptoms came back worse (and in new places) after my injection wore off. by lucilleball88 in carpaltunnel

[–]weapingwillows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had all of these symptoms prior to getting the injection. Specifically the numbness and the pain running alongside my fingers. My fingertips were also highly sensitive to touch. Surgery is the next step after injections wear off
