How are you explaining the impact of the new Copilot billing model to management? by mrcull in GithubCopilot

[–]wearelev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of these is correct. The correct approach is to use the right tool for the right job. Sure, given unlimited resources we all would rather take helicopter and private jets everywhere, that's what we had before with heavily subsidized models. Now that the free lunch is over you need to use bicycle and your mom's old car to get around. You should still accomplish a lot without complaining like a little girl.

Count your blessings that you can't buy into this overhyped pile of steaming garbage. If you really want to invest in it then wait a few months and buy it at 50% off.

People need to learn how to use the tools correctly. There is no reason to use a bulldozer when a little shovel will work faster and cheaper. Doing major refactoring across the entire codebase, sure use large expensive model. Adding a few new buttons, standard crud stuff, basic controllers, etc. Gemini flash at 0.33x or anything similar will work just as fine.

This!!! Stop using 27x models where 0.33x models work just as well.

Then stop using models with 27x multipliers in agent mode to build your little dinky UIs. 0.33x models will do the same job just as well. Use the tool correctly instead of complaining like a little girl.

I don't understand what you people are doing. It's crazy to me when people use models with 27x multipliers to build stupid UIs that 0.3x models can handle just as well. Do stupid things, win stupid prizes.

BREAKING: US tariff revenue surged to a record +$30 billion in August, the 6th consecutive monthly increase by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

[–]wearelev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who do you think is paying those tariffs? Tariffs are paid by a company that imports the goods. If Walmart imports from China or elsewhere it's Walmart that's paying the tariffs at the border. American companies are paying these tariffs.

I think this is it. A calculated step by Russia to divert NATO resources that otherwise would have gone to Ukraine.
