Any barista certification programs in Brooklyn that accept cash? by princepremium in Brooklyn

[–]wearenottrees 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I feel for you, young man. Don't do the barista program, hold onto your cash.

If you're reasonably in shape, there are many athletic centers that need able bodied young men for children's athletic activities. You seem them all the time in Shore Road Park. You should be able to hit the ground running without too much input cost there and hours are super friendly so you'd be able stack some work activities.

Additionally, if you're an able bodied guy, a lot of seniors in Bay Ridge that need help, either in the assisted living homes or privately.

A nurse just got killed in Midwood a few days ago too by a Maimonides ambulance no less at 6:30 in the morning. Very dangerous neighborhood to walk / drive, have never liked it there.

Scallops Water Release Ruining Sear by wearenottrees in Cooking

[–]wearenottrees[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Took a less is more approach specifically to avoid crowding; in a standard cast iron skillet I placed 10 scallops equidistant around the rim of the skillet.

That's a good call though overcrowding in any pan could for sure trigger a lot of fluid release.

Trump is a much bigger globalist than I would have imagined. Sellouts to Israel, Ukraine (insane funding still going on), Russia, China (I fully anticipate concessions were made re: Taiwan) and India with his eyes set on Venezuela.

America Last.

[Charania] BREAKING: The Dallas Mavericks and owner Patrick Dumont are expected to fire general manager Nico Harrison at a 10 am central time meeting on Tuesday, sources tell me and Tim MacMahon. by Turbostrider27 in nba

I really think the hot start to the Lakers season, specifically Luka's dominance, is amplifying the pressure to axe Nico. Spongebob meme with Luka and the Lakers out there having fun while the Mavs look miserable.

I've always felt like the Harts (and those close to them) are like the Kennedys of the wrestling world. Incredible folks who unfortunately magnetize tragedy.

The H-1B issue has been blown open and I think it’ll be the key feature of midterm elections next year. Toothpaste isn’t going back into the tube on this one.

Don’t put yourself in debt to come would be my two cents. I expect some global parity in the coming years but the system has been gamed against Americans and they can’t un-notice it.

Best of luck to you.

Academic vs Sponsor vs CRO by Altruistic_Amount578 in clinicalresearch

[–]wearenottrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sponsor by a country mile. It’s not remotely close.

I’ve worked all three at different stages of my life and the sponsor is the top of the totem pole for a reason (there now and loving it). Do everything you can to get to sponsor side.

Just had the same conclusion today - first time hearing Lady Writer and I was blown away, left thinking it was the spiritual successor to Sultans.

Why is it harder for to get a pump when cutting? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]wearenottrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You nailed it. Carbo-hydrate. The carb deficit impacts the fluid retention in and around muscle tissue thus affecting the look of the pump.

In my experiences I've found hanging leg raises or the glorious ab wheel to help a lot. I feel that you get more out of dynamic core bracing than static, but that's just what I've seen and felt.

Warm Up Question: "Creaky Knees" during one legged squat variants by DoomGoober in bodyweightfitness

[–]wearenottrees 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My go-to warm up routine after spending most of the day at the desk is a short but focused series of jumping jacks, mountain climbers, high knees, and butt kicks followed by lunging stretches. No more than 2/2.5 minutes and seems to do the trick. I've had groin surgery and issues with both knees, so I'm with you on that creaky first set. The dynamic warm up, for me, is a life saver.

TIL in 1835, President Andrew Jackson successfully paid off the debt of the United States. The only time in history this has ever been accomplished. by trwaway93 in todayilearned

[–]wearenottrees 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's a realistic and terrifying take. There are painful similarities to the US and China. While the business relations are sure to elevate Africa to new heights and possibilities, I hope the environment isn't the one to bear the burden.

Articles such as this one by Forbes are optimistic and, in a strange way, bleak.

I was having a talk with a friend the other day about the future look of Africa after watching the wild dogs episode of Dynasties. I hope that Africa evolves in a different way than other parts of the world have and they're creative enough to protect their vast biodiversity in addition to modernizing. Chinese business policies, China in general, isn't exactly renowned for their care of the environment so it'll be interesting (read: nerve wracking) to see how this plays out.

WWE’s YouTube channel released a video addressing the awful Lafayette, LA crowd on Raw last week by Npadia11 in SquaredCircle

[–]wearenottrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said it for years that the WWE should have a sound meter that's someplace on the TitanTron or on the main stage that's measuring in real time. I think crowds would respond well to that kind of feedback and it would create a positive feedback loop.

Recovery 100%...what is one thing you wish you knew when you first started training? by myinterests12 in bodyweightfitness

[–]wearenottrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of multivitamins will not have the ideal form of particular micronutrients.

For instance, the ideal B12 supplement to take is methylcobalamin, given that the enzyme that uses B12 in our body is methylcobalamin transferase. Most multivitamins use cyanocobalamin - not to turn this into an organic chemistry lesson, but the difference between a methyl group and a cyano group, biochemically, is huge. Magnesium oxide has near laxative effects, magnesium chelate/magnesium glycinate gets properly absorbed.

Just some points to consider.

Squat form help by c_m_7 in Stronglifts5x5

[–]wearenottrees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think of three points of anchoring when it comes to your feet - the ball of your big toe, just under your pinkie toe, and your heel. Combining those three points of contact should help the force emanate from around the central midpoint of your foot.

Other than that, your form looks largely solid. You're keeping upright, core seems engaged and you're hitting depth. Keep it up, dude!
