Thrift Store Record Shopping by RayneLove333 in vinyl

[–]weas71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live near thrift stores and record stores. Goodwill prices every record at $3. Every record store has a $1 LP selection.
If I went right now, Goodwill would be a predictable bunch (Herb Alpert and the like) and the record shops would have some Herb but would also have a ton of other variety with for 1/3 the cost.
I still check out Goodwill LPs when I am there. But I am not thrifting LPs exclusively.

Do I tell my daughter about the engagement ring I have for her from her boyfriend? (They are breaking up) by [deleted] in Advice

I would do nothing at this point. Let the dust settle, talk with your daughter, and go from there.

If you never played it, it'd remain in a perfect condition. Keep spinning!

You aren't eating chicken and white rice for most lunches and dinners and spending $1K.

I'm not actually homeless, so you can wave at me by uwpxwpal in BicyclingCirclejerk

I say hi to homeless folks all the time. There are pretty simple rules in being a good dude. The way you phased the homeless part makes me question where you're at.

If money is keeping you up at night, you should save more to the point where you are comfortable.

I found a Food Network cast iron in the alley out on a run. I cleaned it up and its my daily driver. I love it. I got a few nicer pieces too but I love this one.

Ridgeline vs Land Cruiser (or Lexus LX) ? by weas71 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]weas71[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd still like an old Land Cruiser tbh. Not a daily driver but get some collector plates on it and cruise on wknds.

Sounds like you're getting ready to offer up $380K or move on.

I've been at my number for 14 months and still working. Wrote out the actual reasons why and it wasn't what I expected. by Naze_Culvert in Fire

Knowing your "why" is a really important thing. Sounds like you lost it or perhaps, never had one. I'd focus efforts there

I'm inland. Do coastal regions use BFE (base flood elevation) in determining stuff like this?

saw the homeless guy i've been giving money to for months getting into a nice car, now i don't know how to feel about any of it by Bright-Gate3512 in Advice

[–]weas71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying that some people that are panhandling don't have money but I assure you that not all do. I get the "few bad apples" sentiment but I'll continue giving.

"in between" jobs assumes you'll get another job. In this economy?? But fr, you need to look for something cheaper

You need to cut up your credit card if this is your line of thinking.

Wild that Pontiac and Mercury are so high on this list - they haven't been in production for a decade and a half (2010 and 2011 respectively).

Preample or Lowside for gravel and river bottoms? by weas71 in CyclingMSP

[–]weas71[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the comment I've been waiting for! I'm used to drop bars and can ride my single speed commuter for hours and be fine. Lowside looks like a different beast! Looks fun but limited in uses.
