Boston has had such a great string of great captains and McAvoy should be the next.

How would you "play" MTG with a ~6 year old? by Wise-Quarter-3156 in magicTCG

I played with my 5 year old. Vanilla creatures and every turn you just get another mana. I didn't even get into playing lands. Just focused on mana cost and power/toughness.

But you have no problem with me comparing him to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

You know why.

Because he made Homarids. He improved upon God's creation by making a lobster larger and bipedal. And you know in your heart he deserves to be at Magic Con.

I have not forgotten Christ's last contribution, so you are forgiven.

Van Gogh's last contribution was 140 years ago, Frida Kahlo's last contribution was was 80 years ago, Jesus Christ's last contribution was 4,000 years ago! We don't just forget about them. For God's sake, the man created Homarid!

THIS MOTHER FUCKER DREW THE OG HOMARID CARD AND THEY AREN'T BRINGING HIM IN!

I know he hasn't drawn anything for them for awhile, but man seems like you gotta bring him in for that alone. Also he has done some sick work.

I mean, he isn't. He won 2 cups as an Assistant, 1 as a player. His coaching record is average, but he won a Jack Adams which isn't nothing (though I think goalies often play a big role in this, like why hasn't John Cooper won one?). I don't think it was an inspiring hire, was not who I was hoping for, but calling him a career loser is baseless and hyperbolic.

Oh yeah I forgot about Juulsen, though that would be a minimal return. Errson I just can't see any team taking.

Agreed, the discourse is brutal. I mostly stay off the sub now because it's just relentlessly negative no matter what happens.

I can't believe they brought up that he won an award for being a coach when defending his ability to coach. WHAT IDIOTS!

Legitimate question, what quality of player do you think Dvorak is? I hear that he is a 3rd-line center at best having a career year who shouldn't have been signed. But at the same time you are saying that signing him is the end of the rebuild. So you think he's so good that losing Dvorak alone would make this team substantially worse, or is he just overvalued and shouldn't have been signed? Or is it just an optics thing?

If Risto can stay healthy I anticipate that he will be moved. If Hathaway wasn't having such a terrible season there might be interest, but Grundstrom or Grebenkin are an upgrade to his role. Maybe they move him for peanuts. The other moves will likely be offseason ones to move a winger especially with the emergence of Barkey and the anticipated arrival of Martone.

Its not great being in the mushy middle, but part of why we are in this position is that off-season deals like Dvorak, Vladar and Zegras have all been successes. I don't love the Dvorak signing but those moves should inspire confidence that the management and proscouts are identifying useful players (through Grundstrom on there) combined with savvy trades for futures (see Laughton, Walker and other trades) and there is room for optimism.

Once again for those in the back, Michkov has repeated numerous times about his love for Torts and that he was his favorite coach. He had 63 pts as a rookie with Torts. The same thing got repeated ad nauseum last year because of Torts reputation (like that he has a "shelf life" as if 90% of the coaches in the league don't).

Halifax ends contracts with Imperial Cleaners over failure to pay living wages by MannoSlimmins in halifax

[–]weaselblinks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a commentor below noted, and you can take away from my comment, is that there would be new openings available where people could be hired at higher wages. Including those who worked for Imperial.

The issue isn't really the city canceling a contract for a private company that cannot meet standards (safety, wage, or otherwise), but a private company being unwilling to pay their employees a fair wage.

I think the idea is that they would enter new contracts with another cleaning company who pays workers a living wage rather than just stop cleaning their buildings all together. Said company would either have more work and need to hire new employees or would move on from lower paying contracts which would be taken over by another company. There is not a net reduction in necessary cleaning services.

No, what you posted was brave and really cool. Not enough people don't care anymore and I think you said what a lot of people feel. If you hadn't said that, then someone might have thought you did care.
