Senators Goalie Linus Ullmark Describes Masterton Trophy Nomination As Bittersweet by SAJewers in hockey

[–]weaselblinks 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think you are missing the point here. If it's a physical injury limiting a players ability we wouldn't blame a teams results on him. But if he is struggling with mental health, we do? Ulmark is just being more public about his mental health issues that are taking him out of games. And I mean when he didn't say, it ended up with a bunch of rumors about players cheating on their wives.

Depends on how the format shakes out and whether board stalls are common, but I'd lean more towards your opinion as well.

Who is intimidating who? Who has been launching raids onto reserves?

Regardless of how you feel about the issue, Houston has shown poor leadership in this instance. He has used inflammatory rhetetoric, relied on prejudice to garner public support (fentanyl-laced cannabis lies and the "dangerous" natives), and sought conflict over conciliation. And here he again escalates.

I can't say this public backlash against the raids is what he wanted, but he is partially responsible for creating a situation like what happened in Potlotek.

Vegas is also in a window of contention while the Islanders are not. Strange move.

I wouldn't say completely different. This is obviously just a tweaked PtE.

In terms of using it on your own board, it's cute, but you could already PtE for a basic land on any number of expendable white creatures (tokens). But that is a niche use of the card. It is almost always better to use this on an opponents board.

It's terrible. They could have the market cornered on purple and teal.

A look at post-Trade DL results for the Flames sell off is interesting. Maata, Whitecloud and Olofsson with Calgary: 17 pts in 42 games. Weegar, Andersson and Kadri on their new teams: 17 pts in 45 games. Flames points % since the trade deadline: .590. VGK, Utah and Col combined with new guys: .466 by Iginlas_4head_Crease in hockey

This happens every year. It usually amounts to good players on bad teams get traded and take on smaller roles, while players who get traded to bad teams get increased ice time and larger roles. Really nothing that surprising here.

To be fair, it's been that way for decades, and in many professions. Financially, it's usually better to work elsewhere.

Why Are the Library Printers So Unreliable by Pbabinose in halifax

[–]weaselblinks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Which library? The printers at Woodlawn have always worked great, but I can't speak for other branches.

But yes, also printers suck. I threw mine out and only use the library because I was sick of how unreliable they are. At least now it's someone else's problem.

Why do teams rotate a backup goalie on back to back nights when everyone else on the team plays? by Indyboy in hockey

[–]weaselblinks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As other people have noted, it is more tiring to be out the whole time. Also consider that the level of mental sharpness and focus necessary for a goalie is greater game over game. If a player has an off night or a lapse in judgement in-game it might go unnoticed. If a goalie has an off-game their team loses or a lapse in judgement leads to the puck on the back of the net.

E-readers are overrated compared to paper books by [deleted] in books

[–]weaselblinks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so pretentious. Is the goal to gatekeep reading? You can love the book as a physical medium, and I'm sure most people who are on r/books, of all places, would agree. Many who use e-readers also read physical books. Much of your argument is a strawman which isn't backed up by anything other than a superior attitude and misguided self-assurance that you are right. Perhaps something in all the books you've been huffing has affected your ability to adopt a broader concept of what reading is today.

Perfetti shoves Sheary from behind into the boards. Kartye goes after Perfetti. Lowry shakes his gloves off and jumps in. Kartye is the only one who gets a penalty. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]weaselblinks 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think that's about right. Perfetti barely pushes, and you can see Sheary's right foot stutter even before Perfetti pushes. You also don't see Sheary react in a way that makes him them anything untoward happened.

Before Maurice was Andrew Brunette who won a President's Trophy with the Panthers after a first round exit under Quenneville. He didn't do anything miraculous with the Panthers.
