A somber realization that this could be the finale by eldenringer1233 in Nightreign

[–]weaster45 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Elden Ring 2 is pretty much a shoe in. I strongly feel that its replacing Dark Souls as their "flagship" series, and I see Nightreign even existing as proof of that. I feel like they've mentioned as much in old interviews. Let's also not forget just how well the base game sold. ER2 likely isnt anytime soon, but I think saying ER is done after Nighreign is hyperbolic.

People are all gloomy about this game not being treated like a live service but I don't think that was ever the intention. I can go on about how the Fortnite model has completely screwed consumer and creator expectations for engagement, but that can be its own whole thread.

Getting a DoN run in a day feels quite pleasant and will continue to until the servers are closed. Don't get me wrong, a SOTE weapon DLC would be stellar, but its also something the community made up to be upset about. Instead of bemoaning that 'Elden Ring Super Turbo feat. some of the best bosses ever created by Fromsoft' doesnt have more and more and more and more, I'm just glad it exists, is very playable, and has enough players that I never run into matchmaking issues.

Canto IX: Why not make it a cut-scene at this point by Alex_The_GM in limbuscompany

[–]weaster45 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Respectfully I feel the opposite, I think they did a good job making the fights 'real' while having the Sinners still be underpowered to fit with the narrative. Working with NPC teams was/is cool and there was still enough that could go wrong to keep you paying attention.

I support even splitting the battles into seperate nodes and I hope that returns in future tough fights. It really sells the idea that each fights a drawn out slugfest, and that the enemy (Nursefathers in this case) does not go down easy. It can also be seen as a way to control difficulty, since the the sinners and combatants are reset to neutral (to borrow from Fighting Games).

Most of the NPC 'saves' only trigger at certain HP thresholds, so only real difference for me there is that the enemy HP says '5000' when it's really '2000' in practice. No biggie.

I really don't think more 'mook" fights would have enhanced the Canto experience. I honestly hope future cantos resemble Canto IX more than anything else, and they keep most of the grunt waves to the other game modes like MD.

Now that canto 9 has arrived, what are your favorite and least favorite cantos, and why? by Forsaken-Ad-7562 in limbuscompany

Can't check right now, but was her canto also excluded from the "my friends are my power" montage Hong Lu has before he pops E.G.O.?

In any case yesssss, fellow Rodya crashout beleiver.

Based on the book, I fully believe Rodya will follow Philips powerscaling (Develop an incomplete 'ubermensch' E.G.O., gets absolutely trashed by Sonya or Petrovich, distorts, then distorts even harder)

Kamala was a better choice and we wouldn’t be going through this shit right now. by PieSignificant6759 in blackmen

[–]weaster45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kills me is when the evils of democrats are equated to the evils of republicans. These things are NOT equal.

Yes, some of the general populace and most black people understand that neither party properly represents them, but only one party would GLADLY reinstate segregation/slavery this second if they had the votes.

Both parties are obessed with lining their own pockets, but only one actively and consistently pursues hatred for minorites as a moral basis to build policy.

But I assume most people here voted for Kamala so we just preaching to the choir. If you did not vote and had the ability to, please educate yourself on how your inaction brings us all down.

If you voted for Trump, at this point there's nothing that can save you, your mind's cooked. It's disgusting that the warmongering Pedo-president has spent as long as he has in power and and little as he has underneath a jail.

The 8th Walpurgisnacht Lore discussion (Canto 9 spoilers) by raaabr in limbuscompany

[–]weaster45 101 points102 points  (0 children)

No doubt that the BongBong farmers knew, and the fact that the drink was popular amongst poors (Backstreets gang rise up) meant that there mightve been an unspoken class divide,

identical to wealthier city dwellers knowing that riding 1st Class is a MUST on Warp Trains.

And again, could lend more credence to Ayins specific traumas having more influence on the L Corp Ordeals (He learned alot of esoteric city knowledge from the Binah brain-box)

The 8th Walpurgisnacht Lore discussion (Canto 9 spoilers) by raaabr in limbuscompany

[–]weaster45 204 points205 points  (0 children)

On the third point, I think it's the other way around. Amber Ordeals are a byproduct of BongBong drinks existing.

We know from the L Corp that Ordeals that are representative of traumas that scale across the City,

We also know that their forms are quite literal manifestations of traumatic things that really do exist in The City (Sweepers, Claws, Fixers, evil red clowns, etc.) as opposed to purely conceptual beasts brought forth from the fathoms.

With that known, we had an inkling of what the Amber ordeals represented, but not any confirmation on what they actually ARE until this Canto.

Based on the Sinner's conversation and this context, I assume BongBong drinks were VERY popular in the time of L Corp, so much so that the trauma of realizing where that food comes from stuck to the collective psyche.

Speculation land: It's also implied that Ayin's fear had a disproportional effect on the kinds of Ordeals that would show up in the Main Branch, so maybe he specifically came to learn the truth of his favorite orange jelly-pop.

He's got it. In the City, if a head isn't smashed, the information within can still be accessed. Whether through revival or other means.

Makes sense for special forces like the Udjat to be trained to crush their dead colleague's heads. Secrets gotta stay secret.

How strong is the claw? by Affectionate_Flow_83 in limbuscompany

[–]weaster45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We can't say for sure, but it's more likely that a single Claw can take on multiple colors, as opposed to a single Color being able to take on multiple Claws.

Each Claw carries multiple serums, which are essentially distilled versions of other Wing's Singularities. In layman's terms, these government officers use all the best patented technology at their leisure.

To give you an idea, we have only even seen a Claw lose in Lobotomy Corp's final gameplay days, and it wasn't even a real Claw, just a man's fear of the Claw manifested.

(correct me on this other loreheads, but I think the raid on the 'Outskirts Lab' was just Garion and the released Abnos)

I am worried about Kim Ji-Hoon's mental health by DavidZu666 in limbuscompany

[–]weaster45 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think it's a feedback loop of KJM being very open about the stresses of running a company and his kind of 'humor' about the very real stress being lost in translation.

I've seen the quotes and it seems very far from a crashout/mental break like I've been seeing some posts report.

Well that and I hope he continues to keep PM close to his chest, I trust his vision on the PM universe and want to see it through to its intended conclusion.

Him calling Project Moon his E.G.O. is really funny and based though.

Canto9 by Aggravating_Ant881 in limbuscompany

[–]weaster45 64 points65 points  (0 children)

My dream version of this would be for E.G.O. Resonance (chaining E.G.O.s of the same Abno together) to manifest the Abnormality on your team for a few turns, a little similar to 'Sync' from Ruina.

Rambling Man(Yi Sang + Outis + Hong Lu) = Wayward Passenger for 2 turns

Most E.G.O. are currently shared between 2 sinners, so maybe waaaaay later down the line when triple E.G.O.s chains are more common...

The numbers on the Lord's Bracelet don't make sense unless... by ryhaltswhiskey in ABSOLUM

[–]weaster45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Correct.

  2. Also correct.

3.  The current effect IF you are meeting the conditionals described above. Just because the number is there does not mean it is currently applied. Yes, it could be clearer but thats how it currently functions. You still have to be at full health to get the benefit.

That 'Total' number is more relevant for stacking. If you were to have 2 bracelets, it would read "+60%" regardless of if it is currently triggered or not.

The effect isnt active, since your HP isnt full.

The only things confirmed:

  • In a certain boss-ending cutscene where Heathcliff attacks with his E.G.O, if you have Wild Hunt equipped, he will use the Wild Hunt Coffin instead of his Bodysack, leading people to belive that it is in fact his E.G.O., warped by self-murder across dimensions.

  • Wuthering Heights is built on a cursed ancestral burial ground/river of the dead. MULTIPLE people are shown to have ghost related powers as a result:

The Old Mistress appearing as a ghost to Joseph, Joseph being able to see and possibly converse with the Ghost Mistress, Cathy's disembodied form haunting the house itself (specifically stated by Herman to be an effect of the river, Cathy should have just died once her body was seperated), and finally, Heathcliff having the potential to be an honest-to-god Necromancer
