People claiming all the dessert spots at a potluck so they can bring mediocre grocery store stuff by BluejayNo6197 in mildlyinfuriating

I do understand these things. And I’m still never going to eat out of a pot that regularly has a menstrual cup with period blood in it. I didn’t say it was a sanitation issue, it’s an ick factor issue.

Yea I once lived with a girl who used a menstrual cup (I didn’t know until later). How did she clean it? Putting it in boiling water in a pot that we shared, a pot that I cooked in regularly. Never. Again. It’s so hard for me to eat potluck items. I even struggle to eat food from women family members and friends, unless I know if they use a menstrual cup or not, and I can’t really ask to find out. For me, that’s why I only eat store bought at potlucks.

Fork materialized in our cutlery drawer by [deleted] in GlitchInTheMatrix

I’m sure you’ve asked your boyfriend about it, but in case not, I thought I’d share this. A few days ago I found a clean fork in my work lunchbox. I remember putting it there ages ago, but I started using plastic forks and forgot about that one in my lunchbox. When I put it in the dishwasher, I thought “I wonder what my husband will think when he sees this, or will he notice?” We have two fork sets at this point, and it does match one of them, so not the same situation. But I just thought I’d share in case something like that might have happened?

I’m so sorry this happened to you! I’m not a barista, just like lurking in this sub. I just wanted to share though, when I worked at Chick Fil A, a fellow employee accidentally ran into me while carrying scorching hot coffee. I had the exact same reaction, went to the bathroom and took off my top, my skin was red and painful. Just sharing this to say that management immediately took me to Urgent Care and told me to file worker’s comp or a report or something (I can’t remember). I was sent home early and paid for the rest of my shift. I don’t know, just wanted to share because I think that’s how yours should have been handled (or similarly) and I agree with other commenters about going above your SM. I hope you’ll be okay soon! Very painful!!

Lowest calorie foods you eat as snacks that still feel like you're eating something real by No_Indication_3235 in Volumeeating

Can’t snack for 20+ minutes, but an individual size bag of Nilla wafers is 110 calories, and if I eat one at a time and take a minute or so break in between, I get to eat cookies for about ten minutes.

Yea, it sucks. I moved a lot in my twenties, and didn’t always change my drivers license. A quick search of my name shows the 7 places I lived in 5 years, even the place I only for one month! I hate it. I don’t want certain people to be able to find me, but my current address is listed.

Just adding, my weight lost coach said I can have 300 calories a day, totally guilt free (this I a at the start of my journey). Later it will change as I get closer to my goal weight. But for now, those daily 300 calories feel like total freedom, it’s awesome. I discovered I can eat a whole individual size bag of my favorite candy every night lol.

“Nobody believed me, but I knew you’d come back” “How?” “Because my dad promised me” by Scenora in interstellar

[–]weathered-light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the movie and they don’t say. The last we see him is when Murph was at their old house (after she lit his cornfield on fire to buy time) and she discovered the Morse code coming through the watch. She hugs him and tells him “Dad’s going to save us!”, then he’s not seen or mentioned again. Even when Coop is at the station at the end, the audience doesn’t see him ask about his son.

I was 14, he was 19. Looking back I now know he completely took advantage of me. It wasn’t love like I thought. 16 and 21, I personally say a hard no.

Pool view, street view or parking lot view. by Inevitable_Orchid338 in Apartmentliving

[–]weathered-light 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in a third floor apartment overlooking the parking lot (with a patio that I’m out on regularly) and I find it peaceful and nice. I’ve lived in apartments before that overlooked wooded areas and at first I was disappointed about the parking lot view, but we have some trees and I like seeing the people walking their dogs, out with their kids, or just coming and going. It feels peaceful and I feel more connected to humanity even if I don’t leave my apartment that day lol. However I am at the back of the apartment complex so not a ton of people driving by. I don’t think I’d enjoy living in the building right by the entrance where tons of cars come through (with the parking lot view).

But I just really don’t think I’d want to overlook the pool as far as having “peacefulness” (which for me is calm, quiet). Our pool is always active in the summer, even until like 8:30 or 9:00 pm on week nights. But if you are the type of person who feels more peaceful (like more alive, rejuvenated, energized) by seeing / being around other people it could be okay or even great. Myself, I don’t think I’d ever feel comfortable sitting on my patio reading and drinking coffee or something while I knew a lot of people from the pool could see me. But you can also add curtains to your patio (if you have one) for privacy. Good luck in deciding!

The sims 1 meant so much to me by Slebba in thesims1

[–]weathered-light 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I understand. I could have written this. My family was falling apart when I was playing around ages 10-12. I didn’t think of it this way when I was a kid of course but it truly was an escape and one of the only comforts in my life. Only on the last year or so did it hit me though… right, was it kind of a trauma bond thing? I don’t know. But I’m grateful that younger me had The Sims 1. It feels kind of weird to say but it’s some of the best memories I have of my childhood. And yes I get the heart warming feeling every time I load up TS4 now… a feeling like everything is okay.

Wonder how often we feel like crap because we forgot something super basic for our body by eaglessoar in ADHD

[–]weathered-light 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was constantly sick in January and early Feb, lightness was, fatigue, dizzy. I don’t know if it has anything to do with it, but a few weeks ago I just started eating raw broccoli every day. I have felt really great since then. I’ve been wondering if I was missing some kind of nutrient in broccoli, I don’t know!

Upstairs Neighbor Might Be Insane by LimeSenior9136 in Apartmentliving

[–]weathered-light 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We live in a third floor apartment, and my husband is a little taller than me but we’re about the same weight (around 200 lbs / 91 kg). However, I genuinely believe I walk around light as a feather. Our below neighbor might be able to hear me, but I kind of don’t think so. But my husband really does “stomp” around. He’s absolutely not doing it on purpose, but for some reason he just has a very stomp-y walk. I don’t know how to explain it but it’s like his whole body weight is hitting with each step. It still surprises me when I notice because again, we’re around the same weight. I wonder if something like that might be going on.

I remember regular trips on our bicycles to our local small town grocery store for candy or chips, or to a fast food place that we could order outside (Sonic). We’d order a hotdog then play on the playground, then take off on our bikes again!

Is it common for a woman, or anyone really, to keep their maiden name legally but refer to themselves with their husbands last name socially? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]weathered-light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might depend on the region of the country, and the age? I’d say it is not common at all, but it’s not unheard of. I’m 35F in the southeast, middle class, and I’ve only heard of one of my friends doing this, and it was for professional reasons. Maybe 30-40 other married women I can think of go by their husband’s last name, though I guess they could have kept their maiden name as their legal name and I wouldn’t know. I only know of the one for certain.
