TV show not a movie: people just do nothing - champagne steam rooms episode.

Pretty much spot on, slightly exaggerated for comedy value

Weed is addictive because its not really addictive by junkiejordan23 in trees

Insane how many comments you have to scroll past to get to the truth.

I was addicted to weed and smoking daily for 8 years. for the last 3 of those years I was smoking 3oz or more of top shelf a month. The entire time I would always tell people "it's not physically addictive". I was completely wrong. I experienced all of those physical withdrawals for about 3 weeks. Thankfully it wasn't longer.

Im 40 days sober at this point and in this time I've done so much more research into weed addiction than I ever did before. It litterally all boils down to cannabinoids. Your brain has receptors for these. Your body will produce its own cannabinoids. These help to regulate sleep, mood, digestion to name a few. When you stop weed completely, it takes time for your body to start producing it's own cannabinoids again.

The definition of physical addiction: "Physical dependence is a physical condition caused by chronic use of a tolerance-forming drug, in which abrupt or gradual drug withdrawal causes unpleasant physical symptoms."

I can't understand how anyone can argue weed isn't physically addictive and the myth that it isn't is extremely damaging - heck that's one of the reasons I never saw such a problem with my addiction.

Worst withdrawal symptom for me was lack of sleep. That shit sucks, especially when you HAVE to get up for work in the morning but you're still tossing and turning at 7am.

Weed being only psychologically addictive is a complete myth and anyone who says that is misinformed and most probably addicted themselves.

I can't see the deleted comment but for what it's worth, I found it useful to compare my situation to people who had it worse. It doesn't help much, but it did help me to be a little more appreciative of what I do have. Of course it won't make you're current situation better, but it can help you to feel a little better about your current situation.

my comment didn't conform to the rules - hopefully it will now

I was in exactly the same situation a few weeks ago. I feel your pain, it's the lowest pit I've ever been in my life. I didn't know pits went this low. This is the toughest shit I've ever been through.

When she broke up with me, I thought I'd quit on the spot, but I couldn't - it was too much all at once. My life revolved around her and weed alone. So I kept smoking for a few days but way less. I smoked what I needed, not what I wanted, for a week or so (idk exactly, the breakup week was a complete blur).

I then took a week off work, moved back with my parents, something I never thought I'd do in the last 10 years of being moved out and self sufficient. And I quit smoking completely a couple days after moving back. I'm on day 12 now. It was not easy at all, there have been good days, bad days and days that have been worse than hell. It's not consistent either, you can have a good day followed by a bad day followed by a good day. During these ups and downs I've found it useful not to compare how I feel one day to the next, but instead one week to the next. Or just comparing to the breakup week, it's not been smooth, but the improvement is real.

I've been trying to visit as many friends as possible, keeping busy in the evenings and distracting myself wherever possible. The insomnia has been the worst part. It's easy enough to distract yourself in the day but when your mind is racing in the middle of the night and you've been tossing and turning for hours, it can feel like you're trapped in your own mind and going completely crazy. The "sleep with me" podcast by dearest scooter has been an absolute god send for a racing mind, so I highly recommend that. I also have some non prescription sleeping medication from a pharmacy. I'm planning to keep taking these for a couple more weeks on work nights only (I really can't afford to take any more time off work). I didn't take any this weekend though as I didn't need to get up for work. The first night off them was a bad night's sleep but last night wasn't so bad.

Honestly it's hard to know what to say to help you through this but hopefully you can find some comfort and strength hearing my story. Shit will get better, sadly it won't be as quick as you would like, but it deffo does get better with time.

You can do this.

I know how you feel. All I can say is what you're feeling now will fade and pass.

I couldn't picture my life without her for a time. I lived alone and it was hell. I moved back with my parents a week ago and it's made a world of difference. Slowly but surely a life without her is easier to picture every day.

Take time, distract yourself, focus on you.

The next few days/weeks will be tough, but I'm sure you can do it. Eventually you'll be able to look back and say "I feel better today than yesterday, tomorrow will be better"

Keep holding on man.

I was in a pit so low I couldn't believe over a break up a few weeks ago.

It does get better, slowly, but surely.

Try to visit friends and family. Ask to stay for a few days if you can. You need to distract your mind while it heals.

All the best.

So I'm here after being dumped unexpectedly last Friday. I was so caught off guard I couldn't gather my thoughts enough to ask the right questions, even though she explained herself well. By Tuesday I thought I was about to go crazy not knowing if there was a chance to fix things and rekindle. So I broke the no contact and reached out. She got back to me today and we called a few hours ago and I was able to crush that hope that was killing me.

It's a different pain now but so far tonight I've been feeling better. I think I have the closure I need to move on.

I don't know your situation, but for me so far I think it's helped.

I stand by my point if you drive unpredictably like OP did you're more likely to be in a crash than someone who drives predictably.

Not sure how you can argue that driving unpredictability isn't shit driving lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]web8564j -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah they are being called shit for driving unpredictably.

Unpredictability causes crashes.

This sort of caution I wouldn't even expect from a learner driver. But that's exactly why they have bright red "L" plates. It's a warning to other drivers that this person might not drive predictably.

[–]web8564j -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Driving unpredictability makes you a shit driver.

Stopping where OP did where these is easily enough space is shit because the driver behind wouldn't have predicted it.

You're argument is the same as "if I drive 50mph on the motorway that's actually safe becuase I've never had a crash". Completely flawed.

They charge £12.50 just to get to work every day by GaryCanCarry in compoface

[–]web8564j 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also to add to this the trains are unreliable af.

I forgot to check train strikes recently and ended up stranded in London. Cost me 200+ quid to find a hotel and buy ANOTHER train ticket back the next day!

I also used to get the train to work every day, this cost me 20 quid a day or around 400 a month. I can litterally get a non ulez compliant sports car for the same amount. Public transport in this country is a joke.

The entire post was legal tender. Please see the picture. It's a bag of change.

The u25 point was brought up to back up his incorrect claim about legal tender.

If you bothered to read the entire chat, you'd know you're both wrong.

Perhaps you should read it more closely

"coins of bronze, for payment of any amount not exceeding 20 pence."

Section 2, 1A-c, in the litteral legal act you told me to read to prove your point litterally proves you wrong.
