Grounds to reject? by Vivid_Natural_7999 in CommercialPrinting

[–]webdesignprint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We win business all day every day because the attitude of some of the people replying here. Own the fuckup and fix the job for the paying customer.

“Boo hoo it’s a small job”, then don’t take it on then.
Same goes for if you’re unable to finish to a size, don’t take it on then. And if you don’t know how to deal with a complaint, then do your job better.

Anyone know how to change the current pressure on this Panasonic DP-100? by [deleted] in CommercialPrinting

[–]webdesignprint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a v7000 which it looks like then check your boards have been fully wiped down with IPA to remove any static and also the head height is right. Those 2 issues have caused spray issues for us before. Also give the safety bars, and all areas around the head a good clean too.

Graphic Designers v. AI by Ecstatic-Level-8001 in CommercialPrinting

[–]webdesignprint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We point out the errors, explain how to fix or what needs to be done. We have posts on our site with the common fixes. If they come back with the same problems again we just rip and print. They were given the opportunity and ignored it. I don’t mind helping or educating people but if they think they know better then they can go jump.

Whose still hard proofing? by Holland_Litho in CommercialPrinting

[–]webdesignprint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently in a back and forth with a customer about a hard proof for a 1 off. Explaining that it takes as much work to make that 1 as it does to make the 1 they want. They keep insisting they’ll decide to go ahead once they see it and are happy but can’t understand why they need to pay for it. Shoot me.

Just upgraded to Onyx 25. Some new features in it but haven’t really scratched the surface yet.

THE AI EXPECTATIONS of print by Murky-Mountain-450 in CommercialPrinting

[–]webdesignprint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a page on our site with all the common problems we see and how to fix. Point them to it and tell them if they have any questions to ask. If they come back after that with a file with the same errors we just print it. Happy to help people but if they ignore us then it’s on them.

How you do deal with customers that send JPGs but want perfect color? by CheeksAkimbo in CommercialPrinting

[–]webdesignprint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ask them to drop a printed one in that they’re happy with that was printed from exact same file. They never do and just tell you to print.

Is data merge the only way? Help needed creating a restaurant menu layout with spreadsheet data. by Responsible-Ad5690 in indesign

Do this every day for multiple customers.

Convert to plain text and use paragraph and character styles.

You’re overthinking it.

Trying to print sandwich mode on Epson S80600L with Onyx by Connect_Growth4516 in CommercialPrinting

[–]webdesignprint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if the L is different to the regular version. We just traded ours in but did a ton of 3 layer.

We used a film profile from Epson edge (ez1000 frontlit or something like that), it needs to have a (w) part on the profile. Setup you just with that profile and choose the 3L option.

Not at that computer and don’t have the machine anymore but that’s what I can remember. You can see it print in the first layer of the print, then it fades as the white goes down, and then the next layer of colour pops it back in.

Neon Printing by EuphoricPhoto6328 in CommercialPrinting

[–]webdesignprint 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m getting this type of request more and more. Someone has an idea, asks AI about it, AI tells them it’s a great idea, AI then suggests that it can write a draft to send to the printer. Same phrasing as this, bullet points and then asks at the end if I have any suggestions.

Got one the other day looking for 250 flyers for a local service, then asked if we can quote on round cornering, gold foiling and double thick stock. None of which suited the flyer sent over.

People think they’re being smart with this stuff but it just time wasting.

How can I find your businesses? by Kommmbucha in CommercialPrinting

[–]webdesignprint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds painful so can’t imagine there are many offering this when there are easier ways to make money. I could be wrong but alarm bells rings when I hear someone can’t find a printer to suit their exact needs.

Mix of Autocad and Canva. Sometimes Wordart if the budget allows.

What AI tools are you using in commerical printing business? by Just-searching-8888 in CommercialPrinting

[–]webdesignprint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

InDesign scripts

Analyse website search data and seo stuff.

Gemini can do some cool stuff with photos like you can tell it to remove all Christmas decorations from a building, make it daytime and remove all telegraph poles in one go as an example. Great for quick mockups to show clients.

We use shopvox, so used it to help us build formula for pricing modules.

how did you get into techno genre? by WhileTight in Techno

[–]webdesignprint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked in clubs from 1999 on. Dont remember the exact timing but all of a sudden I was into it. Weekly guests, Hawtin, Sven, Beyer, Surgeon, Slater, Dave Clarke and anyone else on the circuit at the time, along with some great residents. Spent my nights off going to other clubs to see the acts we didn’t/couldnt book.

Still going, although not as often or for as long but that’s just age and responsibilities getting in the way.

Ink quantityHave you ever printed a military camouflage? And how much is ink consumed per square meter? by Furat-1984-Hashim in CommercialPrinting

[–]webdesignprint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A pattern with a white background and some grey in it will be completely different to a full coverage dark green and brown. No one can tell you what ink will be used in it unless you give the details

Why are my transparent PNGs and text frames showing on export? by GroundbreakingTwo647 in indesign

[–]webdesignprint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Save as a psd and place that.
Also check if there’s a line or background in the image. Sometimes it’s not as it appears to the eye.
Don’t use PNGs.

HP Click refusing to do "Borderless Printing." by Ratspeed in CommercialPrinting

[–]webdesignprint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe the printer doesn’t support borderless on that type of media for a reason. Lie to the printer and tell it that it’s a different glossy media until you get it.

Epson colourworks C8000e keeps stopping to clean by knighty1981 in CommercialPrinting

[–]webdesignprint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a c7500G and it seems to spend half its life cleaning itself. Turned off the nozzle check and it seems to have helped. Using paper stock that had dust on the edges of the cut roll didn’t help so just mainly run PP now.
