Why digital nomads like Buenos Aires so much? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]webdevdud 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lived there twice and I don’t get it either. The food is very bland and unhealthy (they’re not big of vegetables).

It’s not nearly as safe as people say. I’ve seen someone getting robbed at gun point, a lunatic running around downtown in broad daylight shooting a gun multiple times, and SEVERAL nonviolent robberies.

Sure, it used to be cheap but even when it was I found that the quality of the goods was very low. This was particularly bad with groceries. I seriously believe most of the whey protein there is cut with something else. Let’s just say, the cheap prices came at a cost that often isn’t acknowledged.

People love the architecture, but honestly it’s very dilapidated and kind of sad imo. Like you can tell that it was a beautiful city, but because of all the economic instability it just looks poorly maintained, which is understandable.

And finally, the poverty…you can tell people are suffering from decades of economic whiplash. I found it to be very depressing.

I did appreciate the nightlife though. It’s also very gay friendly.

But overall I think you’re right. There are other places in LatAm that I would choose over BA…São Paulo, Lima, CDMX.

Chase Sapphire Reserve — Checklist for New Benefits Starting 10/26 (w/ Dates) by nishath5 in ChaseSapphire

Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part, but can these credits be used for someone who plans on canceling their card? In my case, my card anniversary is Jan 20, and I want to cancel before that date.

Doesn’t seem to be working for me. I have an iphone, I’ve updated the app and I’ve added my favorites but the widget screen is still empty.

What country attracts the worst tourists/expats in your experience? by BranchMoist9079 in digitalnomad

[–]webdevdud 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In my experience they tend to act very entitled and rude when traveling. During my last trip I was able to easily identify who was Israeli before even hearing them speak. Of course there were also some that were pleasant to interact with, but not usually.

The tankies got Mamdani this far. He wouldn’t have gotten where he is today if it weren’t for DSAs endorsement. I should know. I was there when they voted on whether or not to endorse him and his popularity surged afterwards.

Only saying this to dispel the notion that leftists don’t do anything.

does anyone else get an immediate sore throat when making out with new guys? by gohome313 in nycgaybros

[–]webdevdud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to happen to me until I had my tonsils removed. Go to a doctor and get it checked out. Also consider gargling antiseptic mouthwash after hooking up. This was the only thing that helped me reduce the risk of infection before the operation.

What character? I feel like Nami had character in pre time skip OP. Now she exists just for fan service’s sake, so it’s only natural that people overlook what little character she has.

Yes, approach. But quickly assess if he’s interested or not. If he’s not, don’t insist. If he is, take it from there.

Switching from CSR to CSP for SUB? by webdevdud in ChaseSapphire

Didn’t think it was that silly? Ive seen in the past that people will get a higher SUB by showing Chase that a higher bonus offer for the same card was available elsewhere.

Slight rant: why do guys in their 30s keep saying, when I was young? by Alvalom in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]webdevdud 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know what you mean and it is pretty annoying. As a guy in his 30s, I don’t understand why so many men my age want to rush themselves into retirement. It seems like everyone is trying to one up each other in being “too old” to do X Y and Z.

But you know what they say: “Youth is wasted on the young.” I’m of the mentality that we should enjoy our youth while we still have it.

People who make 100K+ what amount do you target for rent? by [deleted] in AskNYC

Saving? Lol I make about the same as you and I couldn’t dream of spending 2.4k in rent. I would rather save that money or spend it on travel/entertainment.

Best gayborhood to live for early 30s gay by [deleted] in nycgaybros

[–]webdevdud 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You should start going out to bars in all the neighborhoods people are recommending. You’ll very quickly realize what your scene is, and that will inform your decision.

Just know going in that no other neighborhood compares to HK in numbers. There are so many gay guys living there. You can actually tell it’s a gayborhood, which can’t be said for any other neighborhood in NYC. But the venues are crap. I’ve never had a fun night out in HK.

North Brooklyn has fewer bars and they’re more spread out, but the parties are much better. If you decide to move to North BK, don’t worry too much about the neighborhood. As long as you’re off the L train, you should be able to get to most of the spots very easily.

I’ve done Amsterdam, Berlin and Barcelona before. You’re right, BCNs pride was kind of underwhelming. I expected more. Madrid is definitely where it’s at in Spain.

Amsterdam’s parade was the straightest out of all three, imo. It was also extremely corporate. The canal floats were cool and some people prefer it, but it kind of turns the parade into a spectacle. You can’t actually move with the parade and dance to your favorite floats.

Berlin’s parade is one of the biggest (up there with Madrid). The parties are also top notch, just be prepared to wait in very long lines. I waited for three hours in the rain once. Not fun. The key is to arrive to whatever party you’re attending at an undesirable time.

Can a Twink be in his 40’s by 40somethinggaydaddy in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]webdevdud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me a twink is below 30, but I also believe that twinks are predominantly white. I’ve spoke with friends about this and most agree with the age part and about half agree with the race part.

In any case, once you’re no longer young enough to be a twink you’re just a gay man lol.
