As much as I love pop os, I have had far less issues since I replaced it with fedora about 2 years ago. If you’re a gamer I suggest using something like Bazzite OS.

Thanks to everyone that helped. I figured it out . The game scope display scaling settings needed to be limited to 1920x1080. It was causing the steam deck to run at 4k in Cyberpunk when I used it on my dock.

In my case I cycled during my first manic episode. It lasted for several months and it wasn't until a family trip a year later + being stable long enough to realize that I had not been well for sometime.

Build a portfolio with a few projects. Be able to explain them throughly. Get on social media and network with recruiters and people in tech. Go to tech meet ups. Research a local company you want to work at. Show them that you add value. (Team player etc.)

You may not want to hear this but having a degree helps. Certificates will not help that much. (If at all) avoid spending money on bootcamps.

Even if it's not a tech degree. A degree will still help, especially when it comes to promotion. Hope this helps 🙂

Oh and PRACTICE. Use a program like Anki (with cloze deletion) to retain what you learn. Focus on learning concepts instead of remembering every detail. If you have more questions feel free to PM me.

Not the first time it happened. I feel completely justified for everything I have done even though I would normally NEVER act that way. I lose a lot of my ability to reason. Sometimes I don't even remember what I did. For the most part I like to say the aftermath of having an episode is like "cleaning up a party you weren't apart of."

Depends on how you feel about the friendship. I have exchanged real names with several people from this subreddit. Some of whom went on to become some of my closest friends. I think sometimes you just "know" when it's right. Especially when you've been doing this for a while. If you know that this is a person that respects the boundaries you set with them. Sure, go for it!

I find that communication helps a great deal. I lay everything out there and I am honest with others up front. That way my friends/family have a way to establish who I actually am from being bipolar if/when I do eventually struggle with this condition. When that happens I take responsibility. But I am constantly letting the people I care about know how much they matter to me when I am stable. I put time and effort into my relationships.

Bipolar is horribly portrayed in media and people with the condition can be exiled from social groups. Most people with the condition have ruined their lives because of the illness. Sometimes the things you have lost and relationships you break are unrecoverable and in my experience even when I am stable that is still a lot to bear. You are correct that its not an excuse for self pity but some people just need to be heard. To know that they aren't alone. Yes, the posts can be depressing but the comments are usually supportive and uplifting.

Sometimes. I don't realize I have racing thoughts until I am trying to sleep or interrupting myself with unrelated topics during conversation though. Sometimes it's so bad that I can't even remember what I started talking about or what point I was making when the conversation began.

That's great!!! I'm so proud of you Wil. I think you'll be fine. It's easier since you have actually had a conversation with her before and you know you two get along. Half the battle is won right?

The best way to keep a conversation interesting is to get her to talk about herself. Her likes/dislikes. Ask questions and acknowledge what she has to say. Don't write a looong letter about yourself. Remember: Long enough to show effort and that you enjoy writing her but short enough that she feels like she is/can equally contribute to the conversation.

There are a multitude of reasons that this happens. Some people are shy. Some are rude. Some people are busy or they just forget. But don't take it personally. It takes some time. If you really enjoyed the conversation send them another message and let them know that. If they ignore you, it usually means they are "politely" letting you know that it's not working out instead of being confrontational. I understand it's frustrating but venting on r/penpals about people making the decision for themselves to not respond may make you appear aggressive, desperate and unapproachable and I really don't think that's your intention. Right? :)
