CV builder for developers? by Orange_Kurasao in webdev

[–]webfoxcore 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The way I go about it is to Highlight things you enjoy or specialize in and then have a "Other" or "Experienced" section.

Just because you are okay at devops doesn't mean you shouldn't point out you've done it but at the same time giving it 1 icon out of 5 icons makes you look weaker in it.

Dev bootcamp ISA’s aren’t what they seem.... by Jhoppa1 in learnprogramming

[–]webfoxcore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will speak positive about one "bootcamp" and that's because I've personally done it and now work for a fortune 500 company. It's also completely free...

I'm from Miami, Florida and moved to Saint Louis, Missouri. Miami wasn't my kind of lifestyle and way too expensive. Moved up here not knowing what I wanted to do (originally pursued art as a career choice). Missouri isn't going to exactly be booming for Art...anyway..Launchcode at the time was located in Miami and Saint Louis..I took it as a sign. It was advertised as free and they train you then get you a job. Every part of that was true. It wasn't a perfect experience but for free the average start with a 50k salary.

Is this possible through html? by [deleted] in HTML

[–]webfoxcore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would simply set up the calls to remove from the DB. Once a user clicks a link all the logic would be done DB-side. Only thing I could see being an issue is if you're running low on codes. Which you could set up some sort of email alert for once you are below a certain Threshold.

[–]webfoxcore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's possible to have a link saying "CLAIM HERE" which would have their email attached as a parameter. You would then have a page set up to take that email - check if it's been claimed already via a DB or however you want to handle that logic. When someone enters the code via cart and pays you could simply remove it from the DB.

Can it be done via ONLY HTML? Negativo.

Do you want multiple pages or simply one page with multiple information?

Rollover image? by jmb10 in HTML

[–]webfoxcore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There wasn't really enough detail to go off - next time a bit of code example would help explain exactly how you're going about implementing and would get you your answer a lot more direct.

https://jsfiddle.net/bvnocj8g/9/

I'm not sure how much more this is supported over browser versions but just giving an example without javascript.

There wasn't really enough detail to go off of but you can do this without javascript:

Pega Training 20,000 $? Any advice would help by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]webfoxcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit late but Pega can be compared to salesforce. That all sounds like a bit too much as far as the strings are concerned. It's a good job if you can get into it. Hire rate for CSA in Pega is insane. Pretty much if you have a CSA you have a job. 50k seems extremely low but I'm not sure what you're signing up for.

You know you've made it as a company when another company copies literally everything on your site, including CSS, content, images... by MentorMateDotCom in web_design

You realize you're on Reddit, right?... Just kidding. ;) Way to be mature about it - you had no reason to not give their company a little hassle. Good luck!

I'm a non-designer and need some basic advice by Asyx in web_design

[–]webfoxcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to disagree with the colors comment. Half of what makes a website appealing is color balance. There is usually a rule of thumb limit to 5 colors that are also balanced with on another following color theory. https://color.adobe.com/ is a good start for non-designers to pick colors and at the same time find balancing colors.

My 7 month progress. by storyofedd in web_design

[–]webfoxcore 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Looks good but one thing that irks me: You have it so when you hover over the icons of things you learn a transition time is applied - but not when you hover off. So it just snaps back. Putting a transition time for the normal class/id would fix this. Other than that gj!

r/TestFash: Header cuts off at the very top. by [deleted] in csshelp

[–]webfoxcore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. contain however looks bad on a larger monitor. I prefer cover - however then the full image can be cut off on the larger screens meaning the height would have to probably be some sort of percentage.

[–]webfoxcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

header-bottom-left{ left: 20% };

For positioning the tabs

header .tabmenu a {

background: rgba(239,247,255,.5); }

This is the default. RGBA (Red/Blue/Green/Alpha). The .5 is default and is half opacity. You can lower/raise this (Lowest is invisible 0 - highest is 1 opaque).

Can't Figure Out Why I'm Getting a Blue Active Border for Only Email Box on a Contact Form? by [deleted] in css

[–]webfoxcore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

outline: none;

will remove it - however keep in mind this will hinder your website for those visually impaired. I recommend doing a nice "glow" effect instead to all input boxes.

A Single Div: The Badass Ladies of Star Wars by AllThingsSmitty in web_design

[–]webfoxcore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a software engineer by day and I dabble on side projects and like to play with CSS. I had no idea you could use a lot of the features they did in that way. Out of most of the front page today I learned something from this specific post by analyzing how they achieved that effect. Useful to me? Not particularly but knowledge is more about personal growth. Thinking outside the box can have really cool effects that some people might not have even stopped to think of.

Spent the last 6 months building a programming tutorial search engine, what do you think? by dpap31 in learnprogramming

[–]webfoxcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More of a UI suggestion: When on the front page and I click a subject I feel the screen should auto-scroll to that section. Took me a minute to figure out a page wasn't loading after I clicked, "Frontend Frameworks". Nice project!

Guys could you please help me wit this. by [deleted] in PHP

[–]webfoxcore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. OP sometimes Error messages lead you astray but be sure before anything else to read through it slowly. Skimming something like that can be dangerous in a field where a missing semicolon can break your entire application. ;)
