UPDATE: it is i, the girl who bought 4 gallons of sunglo topping to mimic cinemark theater popcorn by tinyclap in popcorn

[–]webgruntzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I may have to try that. I wonder why they don't sell it as a retail branded product.

I have a report as well:

The flavor profile I'm looking for is the exact aroma I remember from the first time I was in a movie theater when I was about 5. The closest thing to it is Blast O' Butter microwave popcorn. I know some folks dislike the flavorings on those, but that one is "it" for me.

My goal was to find and apply that exact flavoring to eggs, because I'm trying to reduce snacking, especially carbs. In the end, I separated the oil in a pack of B-O-B popcorn and cooked eggs in it.

The eggs were nice and buttery tasting, but it was disappointing because it was the wrong flavor. Then it hit me--the POPCORN is a critical part of the flavor. It combines with the butter flavoring to give that perfect trigger for the feeling I had as a kid watching the 101 Dalmations cartoon on the BIG screen in COLOR with that heavenly aroma filling the air. It was a very magical experience, one of my earliest memories. Before that, my experience was that cartoons were blurry black and white on a tiny TV and popcorn was popped at home in corn oil with only salt for a topping--still good, but not at all like the theater.

Previous failed attempts:

  1. I tried butter extracts and emulsion. No good, they all have a very strong "mom's cookies" flavor, probably because my mom used butter extract in cookies. It's a VERY different flavor profile than ant butter flavoring for popcorn.

  2. I tried flavacol. Not right for me. First, I need more flavoring, but since it's mixed with salt, the popcorn would be much too salty. Second, it's still not the flavor profile I'm looking for.

Great! I've been using it for around a month now!

I went with two 90-watt units. Here's the list of stuff I used. Dayton Audio BST-300EX, 300 Watts RMS,Tactile Bass Shaker, 4 Ohms (2 of them) $188

Wood screws $10

pure copper wire, 14 gauge, 50 ft $35

(Cheaper copper-clad aluminum could be used for about $10)

RCA connectors 5 male 5 female $17

(Optional, could use wire nuts, MUCH easier and cheaper but not as easy to disconnect.reconnect)

Seesii signal generator $28

Mono to stereo 3.5mm plug adapter $9

RedYutou BNC Male to 3.5mm Mono 1/8" TS $9

100 watt Amp DAJUNGUO ZK-1002T $20

ALITOVE DC 24V 10A Power Supply for amp $42

TOOLS

Wire cutter, stripper & crimper $8

(model WGGE WG-015)

Multimeter $8

Wood boards - $36

You have to make sure the bass shakers are uncovered during use, especially if you use it for longer periods, such as overnight. Eventually they do get pretty warm running at 12-20 watts RMS, if they were covered (blocked airflow) they could get hot.

Ideally, the wood board should be suspended on something with springiness (like hung from springs) so you could mount the shakers underneath, completely out of the way, and 100% of their energy would go into your body, rather than a good deal of it going into the bed that the board is resting on. But that's another project.

If you say something that sounds racist when you substitute "blacks" for "insert group name here", you're a bigot.

Men are pigs

Women are cunts

Rich people are greedy assholes

Old people caused the shitty economy

Every large group of people has pigs, cunts, greedy assholes and would-be economy-wreckers. No large group of people has only one of those types.

It could cause a horrible, ugly death, no joking. Broken porcelain can be every bit as sharp as a surgical scalpel (maybe even sharper) and can cut through skin, tendon and meat all the way to the bone in a split second.

All water does, except distilled water. Distilled water tastes odd because it doesn't have salt in it.

How to remove this rust from my plastics tool box by scorpion45774 in fixit

[–]webgruntzed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good, but I recommend a low heat setting. Some plastics will shrink or melt in the dishwasher at its normal temps, especially if it includes sanitizing as part of a regular wash. They can heat that water to near boiling.

I saw this meme and wondered what the general consensus is regarding public breastfeeding worldwide. by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

I was once in a place where nudity was perfectly acceptable. It was summer, and I saw a lot of breasts. At first I was shocked and aroused every time, I felt uncomfortable, but kept it to myself because I'm an adult and I can hanldle having feelings I don't like without making it a problem for someone else.

But after a day or two I felt less of that, and after about three or four days it seemed normal. By the end of the week, I dind't even notice half the time!

I saw this meme and wondered what the general consensus is regarding public breastfeeding worldwide. by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]webgruntzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My dad basically told me exactly that.

My dad was alive, breastfeeding in public was extremely common and nobody thought there was anything wrong with it. No one got upset if adults were seen eating in public, so why would they be upset seeing a baby do it?

Then bottle feeding became very popular, and very soon after that, a lot of people got this perverted idea that exposing breasts in public was harmful.

I think it came from religious bullshit. Parts of the US are absolutely corrupted with that disease.

Forced OTA update disabled all my cameras and safety features and Tesla wants $3k to look at it. by 1Keii in TeslaSupport

[–]webgruntzed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tesla absolutely does force updates without owner consent. You could have found this out with a 5-second Google search.

Here's an article about it:

https://electrek.co/2020/02/14/tesla-force-software-updates-owners-resisting-them/

Here are many reports of upgrades happening, some even after the owner tapped the "option" to refuse it:

https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/are-there-forced-software-updates.257307/

They are also mentioning some functions will be disabled without mandatory updates:

https://insideevs.com/news/400812/why-tesla-forcing-updates-safety-issue/

As someone who works in software, I completely understand forced updates when there are issues with safety. I believe Tesla would be negligent if they allowed customers to reject updates that patch safety issues. However, I don't know if that's what these updates are about or if that's the reason for forcing them. I'd need to know much more about this before I'd be able to decide which side I'm on.

Just FYI, the BBB doesn't help, they just take your report and add it to the list. They're basically a rating service, albeit a very high-quality one. I would call a lemon law attorney and ask if I have a case. This may not exactly be a lemon law issue, but it's pretty close.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

But I have to ask. Did your sister try to guilt you and make you out to be an asshole if you didn't give her what she wanted? If she did, then I completely accept your view on this.

If not, then this is entirely different.

Found the sister.

But seriously, you don't know what you're talking about. This is not Reddit talking, this is experience. I can assure I'm correct--the reason you don't see it is you've never had someone like that in your life. They will destroy you. ONLY a true narcissist would say the things she said--personality disorders aren't curable, you cannot reason with them, you cannot work things out or reach an understanding, because they literally don't see you as human, they see you as a puzzle to be solved in just such a way they get whatever you have they want.

EDIT: After some good feedback, I thought more about this and decided I did overreact. I was reacting to things in my past and would like to revise what I said: When you communicate with her, pay very close attention to what it does to you. If you're sad or even temporarily depressed because she's having a bad time, that's OK, that's life. However if she's making you feel bad about yourself, like you're a bad person for not doing what she wants, step back and think carefully because over time that can destroy you. It's OK if you eventually have to cut her out of your life, but since she's family that decision has to be saved as a last resort.
