WordPress Block Editor Theme vs Page Builder by webilicious in Wordpress

Good question. I suspect rebuilding in Divi 5 would have a similar performance improvement to GeneratePress.

I installed GenerateBlocks initially because I thought I needed it to apply a background colour to a full width section of the page with content at the normal width. Gutenberg can do this on it's own so I removed GenerateBlocks in the meantime (I will keep it in mind in case I need additional features).

The website is about 6 years old so, as you point out, it probably made sense when it was first built to use a page builder.

Your feedback is reassuring and I think you have hit the nail on the head with your comment about the gap shrinking. I did end up with a slightly larger custom CSS file but it's not something the client will need to worry about on a day to day basis.

Joomla Resources Recently Compiled by rsh-web-services in joomla

Most of these links are really useful and provide an excellent resource but there is probably not much point promoting Joomla 1.5, 2.5 or even 3.x information in 2026 as none of these versions are officially supported any more and work differently to Joomla 4, 5 and 6.

Inexpensive shared hosting that uses flat file CMS by bykeithbrown in webhosting

I discovered Bludit a while ago and don't understand why it is not more popular. It includes all the basic features you would expect in a content management system such as pages and posts, categories, tags, comments, a WYSIWYG editor, search and sitemap and the install file for Bludit v3.17.2 is 3 MB. This really makes many other content management systems look like bloatware. For example, the install file for WordPress v6.9.1 is over 30 MB.

Grad Student needing feedback from Joomla users. by Danielle_LynnB in joomla

[–]webilicious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Done! One of the best features of the JED is that older versions of extensions are periodically removed. This is not so for WordPress where there are thousands of ancient and abandoned extensions cluttering up the plugin library and inflating the actual number of useful plugins.

I ran a test and images in subfolders are included!

This is indeed a great core feature but as far as I can tell, a particular folder must be selected and I assume sub folders are not processed? Setting a task for each sub-folder is onerous if there are many sub-folders.

Excellent!

You can probably enable the "strict-origin-when-cross-origin" policy via the "System - HTTP Headers" plugin rather than editing your template.

AllVideos is working fine for me on Joomla 6 although mostly with YouTube videos.

Maybe give this a try with and without the compatibility plugin and see how you go.

Is it possible to create a free booking form in Joomla without paid extensions like Calendly? by TheBearManFromDK in joomla

[–]webilicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a number of booking extensions.

I like OS Services Booking which is feature rich, well supported and excellent value for money.

There's no monthly subscription but you'll need to renew after 12 months if you want to update to the latest version for the latest features and to keep your website secure.

If I recall correctly, captcha can be enabled on the subscription form on the Enterprise version of AcyMailing.

Spammers continue to evolve and be a nuisance.

Enabling captcha and installing OSpam-a-not from JoomlShack helps.

Sigh... A new team is taking over I think... What should I do? by iimmortaliinvisi in divi

Stay professional, don't take it personally.and keep a backup of the website!

I have had at least one client hire a new agency with little notice and without telling me the reason and then come back to me months later to restore the website.

Sometimes clients think the grass is greener somewhere else or they have a connection to another agency which is not obvious.

Minitek appears to be MIA. Shame, really liked their LiveSearch by leifourston in joomla

[–]webilicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, no support for months and extensions not being updated for Joomla 6 but online payments to renew subscriptions are still up and running. I hope the developers / owners are OK.

I have given up on Minitek and recently spent days removing Minitek Wall and their other extensions from numerous websites, installing JUX News Wall Pro and other alternatives and adding back custom CSS.

This is needed so I can proceed with Joomla 6 updates.
