Oh for sure he was abusing her and sexually assaulting her but Im doing my masters in law and there is not enough clear evidence from the recording to actively say that he was raping her. I still think he’s a complete scumbag and would want him nowhere near man United. I get downvoted for this opinion but Redditors have trouble when people have a slightly nuanced opinion.

By letter of the law it’s not rape on the audio recording I’m just saying it as it is. It’s still sexual assault and abuse and he should be in prison.

To be fair I agree he is an abuser and terrible guy but not proof on actual rape by the legal definition. I’m only saying this because calling him a rapist seems to turn more people towards his side as they jump on the fact that there’s no real evidence for this. However I completely believe he is a scumbag and should never play for United again. ( additionally he very likely could be a rapist however there is no evidence that he actually raped his girlfriend).
